An aerial view of DWC during the DAS. You can notice the existing terminal expansion, additional runway being prepared, and a few EK airframes that are stored.

EK77W, Seat54 and skywardhunter like this.

Hmmm. Any new concourse construction has already begun yet? How long it will take?

Construction of the new Expo/DWC metro line in full swing. It's very active now at the NHT connecting station, and Discovery Gardens.

A road diversion is being built around NHT metro station so building can be started on the new sister station for the Expo/DWC metro line.

Sorry to go slightly off topic but does anyone know how the trains on the Metro will reverse at JLT? There is a crossover at IBT so they can easily reverse there, but I can't see how this is achieved at JLT.

Catch22 situation: EK wont order more A380's if Airbus will not give 'iron clad' guarantees that the programme will continue. And then there is the engine (GE vs RR) issue. Although the article claims that politics are not involved, I would be surprised if EK will make themselves too dependent on Boeing (and by association to US suppliers).

Maybe they could salvage the 747-8 program just maybe.

748F is where that program will sit on life support. The 777-10 is looking at 450 capacity which is about the same as 748I. Without the drag of the bump and maintenance of four engines. Boeing is more open about the 747 being gone, given that looking at the 777-10.
