Am I correct in assuming you get the gold bonus if you achieve gold in consecutive years?

I am one of those who don't fly as often and when I do it's mainly economy. With the changes I have noticed it is harder to achieve gold when trying to find the cheaper fares. The new system of flex/saver costs me more to acheive gold. My usual flights MAN-JNB used to cost me in the region of 500-600. Now a flex fare costs in the region of 800-900. If I chose the saver option the cost would increase again.

I'm not really complaining too much as I'm happy with the emirates product. Touch wood I've not had any major problems so far.

If I can remember correctly, the Gold bonus was for reaching a certain level within a period of time (ie you achieved a certain level of tier miles within a timeframe).

There is a saying , if its not broken, then dont touch it, their was nothing wrong with the old system of earning points per mile and i have no chance of ever getting gold again, so i have no incentive at all of even trying and with the amount of miles i do normally (48,000) i wont have make silver if all my flights are savers which would mean that i would only get 24,000.
i did however get a incentive out of emirates by giving me Gold by allowing me to fly back 2 days after my cut off date of 31st May and claiming gold.

i am not touching my miles for free flights untill i am back down to silver and by time i have used my free miles, I will be back down to blue and might start looking at other carriers.

i agree that their should be another level for 100,000 and again for 200,000 but it should be for miles flown and none of this flex and saver.

I dont even look at the gifts because they are over priced and cheaper paying cash for them.

Emirates is a good product, But others are catching up fast.

Works just great for me..

Hey All,

I wanted to tag on to everyone's responses here to Skywards - overall it has been a satisfactory experience - esp. Ex-DEL and DXB onward for myself and I'm quite happy with the service inclusive of ground staff at all EK locations be it MAD, DEL, BOM, MNL, DXB.

I also hear this rant about FFs on EK not hitting Gold and Silver as anticipated previously but life goes on.. and Just keep flying EK .. you'll get there.

Their current "no incentive post-50K miles" works just fine for me. Although crossing 50K + TMs should at least get you some SWU certs like with UA. Wishful thinking.

Thanks
