Am I correct in assuming you get the gold bonus if you achieve gold in consecutive years?

I am one of those who don't fly as often and when I do it's mainly economy. With the changes I have noticed it is harder to achieve gold when trying to find the cheaper fares. The new system of flex/saver costs me more to acheive gold. My usual flights MAN-JNB used to cost me in the region of £500-£600. Now a flex fare costs in the region of £800-£900. If I chose the saver option the cost would increase again.

I'm not really complaining too much as I'm happy with the emirates product. Touch wood I've not had any major problems so far.
