This is true except they are usually bigger with the convection. I agree if he has the room for it.

We bought a Black & Decker toaster oven at Kohl's for $5 about 5 years ago (using my MIL's Kohls Cash...I think it listed for $35) and it works just fine.

Pro tip: put a sheet of foil on the bottom of it to catch crumbs and spills.

Or for Delonghi, price compare to Saks with the AMEX credit.

We've had the Cuisineart with the convection feature for almost 10 years now. We love it, especially for baked potatoes. It's deeper and taller, but it fit into the same counter position as our old Black & Decker.

Just like toasters, there should be a pan that catches these "droppings" that slides out to be clean. Your tip will make it easier to clean, but will absorb some of the heat put out by the heating element and will cause cooking times to be longer.

A few years ago, my SIL gave my wife a toaster oven that has an air fryer setting. It looks exactly like the toaster oven we already had, but I decided to replace the old one on the counter and stored it in our garage. She started using the air fryer feature when toasting and found that it gave a better and faster "toast" than our regular 2 slice toaster. I have used it to air fry Totinos frozen pizzas and it comes out more crispier and faster than the regular oven.

“Air fryer” is just a gimmick. The convection setting cooks pizzas unevenly and you have to manually turn them during cooking.

I have the Cuisinart TOA-60. It is large but I use it probably 4-5/week. It’s a lot quicker than turning the oven and and waiting for it to preheat when I’m making small things. I really didn’t think I’d use it as much as I do.

Unless you're getting a tiny inexpensive toaster oven, go for one that also serves as a convection oven (unless you already have a convection oven).

We have the small one and absolutely love it. It's just the right size to reheat leftovers for two of us.

There is a slide out pan, but I don't want to spend time scrubbing spills off it. A sheet of aluminum foil has a negligible thermal mass and has zero effect on cooking time.

I am not sure what I would do with aan air fryer, or even a convection oven. My cooking is not all that complex.

That's the beauty of the Brevelle. It's a real toaster over with regular oven, and has bake, broil, bagel, and toast. But it is on the expensive side, even for the small one, but it really works well as an oven for small portions.

Every toaster oven I have had does all those things but convection (which I have managed to live without) is especially good for baked goods. If I had the room I would get a convection but I do all of the above without one.

I use my Brevile toaster oven every day. I can toast a bagel or roast a dish of vegetables. It's a great appliance
