Deaf ears here. Try living in a state where grocery stores aren't even allowed to sell beer.

People that block the entire aisle with their cart so you have to stop and wait for them to finish picking their product. You'd think that somone giving them "that look" would stop the behavior. Maybe they just don't care?

Reminds me of this weekend. I was shopping at Home Depot pushing a cart loaded with 4x4s. There was an empty cart right in the middle of the aisle that I'm pretty sure had just been put there by a guy looking at light bulbs. Since he wasn't moving, I asked my son to move the cart...expecting he would just move it to the side. Nope, he pushes it down to the end of the aisle. I turn around and see the light bulb guy now looking for his cart.

Grocery stores whose shortest line is "10 items or fewer." This is annoying to those of us who have come in to buy one or two items, especially when you get someone in front of you who insists that ten cans of soup equal one item, as do seven cans of cat food. One store I knew in another city had a "3 items or fewer" line, which was fantastic.

your problem is with theft, not with parents allowing their kids to eat. get over yourself. not to defend them, but how do you know they didn't tell the cashier later that they had 2 boxes of cheezits or something?

1) Carts everywhere in the parking lot. I've really only seen this in the suburban Stop & Shops.
2) The people who park right NEXT to the cart holder and still don't put their carts away.
3) And that woman who shoved her cart to the side, got in her car, and watched her cart slowly roll into the middle of the lane...and then drove away.

As a multi-grocery store shopper, I have noticed that the people who push their carts in TJs or Whole Foods are a whole different lot. Or, as my finance says while watching these shoppers meander through the aisles... "these hippies cannot navigate". My guess is that some of the TJs and WFs just have more narrow aisles.

As for the Self-Check, I tend to (very purposefully) shop at odd hours, so I love them!

Candy in the checkout lanes

Try getting through that without buying any when the kids are around.

Yup. It's a pain. Some stores (unfortunately, not my local Stop & Shop) offer a "candy-free" checkout lane. ^

Staff that don't know where something is and seem put off by you asking them to find a colleague who does.

People that go to the roll or bagel bin, and do not use the supplied tongs or plastic while searching for that perfect roll or bagel.

I hate self checkout!!!

I encountered it last night at a Kroger and was forced to deal with it because they had no registers open. Gee, thanks for being 24 hours but unstaffed.

Anywho, argued with the machine for a good long time. I dont buy like 3 things, i buy lots at a time and go back to the store when i have to.

Same thing for places like home depot and lowes. And at them and supermakrets i never buy simple stuff or a small basket load.

Forcing me to use self checkout for a full cart is ridiculous. Just try to take a bag off the turntable thingy to put it back in your cart because it is full, just try! Stupid things weren't made for large or odd purchases and shouldn't be forced on anyone who is trying to buy them.

Or, the one that I am guilty of. Forgetting to purchase one item on the list as the Cashier is still ringing up your order, and having to leave the line and run to the "other end" of the store to retrieve it, while the other shoppers in line just "glare" at you as you make your way back to the front of the check out line with the "forgotten" item in hand and a "sheepish" grin on your face. Not a pretty picture.
