When I'm home, they are about 10 on my list. There is one near my jobsite in TN, and we usually go there for lunch when I'm onsite. I do prefer it over Applebee's.

Does anyone know if they actually cook food in the kitchen or if they are only heating up frozen patties, frozen vegetables, maybe adding noodles or watever that actually are prepared in there?

I like the Triple Prime Burger, but do they actually grill it or rather put it in the microwave (or some kind of oven) until it reaches the desired grade?

Of course it would make sense from to keep a constant level of quality and save in qualified kitchen personnel, I just find the idea of eating a pre-grilled burger kind of repelling.

They will continue to be popular with business travelers for the same reason that Hilton Garden Inn's do well. No surprises. The last thing that I want at the end of a day is a surprise.

Consistently boning menus at a restaurant that are followed by consistently boring hotel rooms.... Ahhh the life....

There hot Buffalo Wings are really good. Never got them so spicy. It make me cry ... it was wonderful.

The only good thing about these chain restaurants is that you know what you get. If you are just hungry and not in the mood for a search of a good local restaurant there are way better then stopping at McDonald's, KFC, etc.

It's safe to say that the burgers are actually grilled. I can't think of anyplace outside of a snack bar type environment that would dream of nuking a burger. I mean, even McD's and BK grill their burgers.

You're more likely to find pre-cooked products in chicken or pork as there is more to risk food-safety wise by cooking to order.

One thing I will say about Ruby Tuesdays is that they do set the standards of cleanliness. When I was in college, I spent a lot of time working in various kitchens. I cooked at the dining hall, did a catering gig for a while, worked at a couple of steakhouses, and even spent a summer as a traveling cook (first time I flew NW actually - part of the reason I fly them now). One of the certifications that I had was HAACP certification and a couple of the training videos we watched were produced by Ruby Tuesdays. From what I understand, RT's got some of the safest food in the industry - it keeps cold foods cold, hot foods hot, and accepts deliveries properly & timely so that the food doesn't potentially spoil. Everythings cooked to temperature as its supposed to be & they are industry leaders in terms of food safety & ensuring their kitchen managers are HAACP trained & certified. I travel weekly & try to avoid the chain restaurants like Chili's, Applebee's, Outback, TGIFriday's, etc, like the plague - but I'm usually willing to eat at a Ruby Tuesdays if that's one of the options because I know they are safe...

So sad, yet so true...consistency on the road is one of the most important things...I spend about 3-4 nights a week on the road & have for almost a year & a half now. It's sad when I can sleep on a Marriott bed almost better than I can on my relatively new (under a year & a half old pillow-top) mattress at home.

My experience at RT's has been pretty poor. I've had 2 horrible soups there (one was that disgusting bean chili) and the salad bar was pretty bland and unimpressive. Some coworkers swear by the triple prime burger, but i've never had it. I make the best burgers I've ever tasted, so I don't order them when I go out.

I guess I had a bad experience then. For years, I couldn't eat there after getting food poisoning at one in college.

Two of my boys have cooked at RTs. Nothing is precooked (or wasn't 2 years ago). Anything grilled is grilled from a raw state - burgers, steaks, fish, chicken. Probelms do arise when sufficient stock isn't thawed in advance, though.

I've seen some low health inspection scores at RT. Like most things, it can be variable. Corporate policies are just that. No chain (possible exception Waffle House) promotes an unclean environment, but some make it difficult with budget constraints and other counterproductive demands.

there's one down the block from where I work. It doesn't even cross my mind to go there.

i went there once and wasn't overly thrilled. I'll admit that I didn't think the burgers were bad, I just usually go to FiveGuys for burgers tho, they're just better.
