Usually Quizno's, but I'm also fond of that great feeder of drunk college students, Jimmy John's! ^

Quizno's. Def.
|
Although we don't actually have either one in our city, I never eat at Subway unless a Quizno's doesn't exist and I'm on the run. It would be pure genius if we had deli's here like they do out east, but we don't.
We used to have a Quizno's in the next town and I was horrified to see that they went out of business! Subway is still there. The powers that be must have found it to be a better choice . |
in germany i have to go with subway-good food for my flights, when i do rarely get out of the seat.
when i am in the states i eat occasionally at quizznos, never at subways. when we get back home from the states we usually get the bread with the meat on it, and all the other veggies and sides in extra boxes-we than place it in the galley and everybody can customize his sandwich-does not soak the sandwich. cheers |
Here's what I do
1) Go to local supermarket (even a small convenience store can do) 2) Buy a decent-looking sandwich bread or two and 100-125 grams of prepackaged ham (meat content 93% and above) from the supermarket fridge 3) Eat. Sure, this method means you miss out on vegetables but at least you're also spared the mayonnaise, butter and all sorts of rubbish that gets loaded on these sandwiches. And it's cheaper. |

I'm definitely a Quiznos fan over Subway, as others have mentioned the quality of the ingredients outweighs the higher price. Seems as though not many agree with me here Down Under though, as Quiznos appears to have pretty much disappeared off the map, whereas Subway is now in pretty much every suburb and in every mall (sometimes multiple times! ).
I'd choose Quiznos of the two but would sooner try to get a chicken salad before eating what is primarily a big, bland bread roll with cheap meats! [IIRC in Australia, a master franchise owner set up Subway on a small scale in the eastern suburbs around 15yrs ago, had a few failed stores (remember Kings Cross? :p) and it was only years later that the master franchisor was able to set up the franchise for massive, starbuck-style growth, so that now there are shops everywhere, just like the US.] |
BamaVol;8515106]Actually, no. Don't you travel outside large cities? |
Neither.
I'll take option C. Potbelly's. Get a freshly made malt or shake while you're there. |
lest we not forget the glorious Blimpie!
|
There's a "local" shop near my work, Mr. Pickles, which is much better that either for cold sandwiches. "Local" is in quotes because I think it is part of a chain, but I've never seen any others.
As for the two specifically mentioned, until Quiznos got rid of their meatball sub, I'd have said Quiznos all around, but now that I have to go to Subway for that, well, that's one reason to go to Subway. Oh, and the old way of cutting the subs from the top was MUCH better for meatballs than what Subway does now. Similarly, Quiznos used to do their meatball sub with slices of larger meatballs rather than the whole smaller ones that they had until recently since the "Real Deals" menu came in. Those tasted better, and were easier to eat neatly. |

Yes, All the time. Are you telling me that in your experience those are the only alternatives outside big cities. I would rather eat a salad at a Denny's, Friday's or some other chain than eat sandwiches with paper thin processed meats at either of those places. If you've ever had a good sandwich with quality cold cuts, quality condiments and quality bread you could not eat at one of those places under any circumstances. Sorry, I just have higher standards or have been exposed to better stuff. It's like asking if I prefer Pizza Hut over Dominos.
If I don't know the town, I'm less inclined to take a chance on a local place. That's one reason fast food chains are successful. They're not good, they're predictable. |

Quizno's. It's overpriced, but pretty decent. I used to prefer Mr. Sub (Canadian chain) over subway, but recently I'm not so sure.
I agree with the comment above about predictability. In one town where a former client of mine was located, Quizno's was honestly the only decent lunch place my teams or I found in four years. Thankfully, for my new out-of-town client, previous teams have compiled a file dedicated to 'logistics,' including good nearby food choices ;) |
