Well, obviously given BiB requirements they made it at least 4 years ago.

And at $25 that's certainly mid-shelf pricing but why the heck is it being carefully hidden from the sight of people who might want to buy more than one bottle?

Bourbon fans are invited to join our Flyertalk LEX Horse and Bourbon DO April 16-18.

This is the 17th time. Already have around 20 likely attendees.

Some 7k AA redemptions to/from LEX were available as of yesterday. Or fly to CVG or SDF.

Speaking of Pappy, there is a bar we visit that last time had Pappy by the shot, with buy one, get one W/F/Sun at 5:30.

Details here:

LEX Horse & Bourbon DO XVII, April 16-18, 2021

Pretty solid IMO — I know Luxardo is the gold standard but the TF worked well and was a lot lighter on the wallet
Secret tip for anyone with a Trader Joe's near you. Their amarena cherries are $4.50 and amazing. They are a seasonal item around fall I believe. Nothing beats them at that price. I place them very near the $20 guys, if not the same.

At the grocery today, I saw Jim Beam Orange liqueur infused with bourbon whiskey. Yuck.

Place we went for dinner tonight had Weller 107 on the menu for $12. I love Weller 107 and it doesn’t exist at all in NC anymore (Weller doesn’t exist period, it just doesn’t come to NC) so I happily ponied up for it.

It ended up being a very generous pour so opted for another one instead of wine with my dinner. Such a great bourbon, it’s just a shame how hard it is to come by.

Was able to try the 2020 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon in LEX last week. Outstanding stuff. Did a mini-tasting: OFBB '20 and Van Winkle 12 yr back to back. To my palate, OFBB was the clear winner there.

Someone gave me a bottle of Basil Hayden recently. I'd say it is probably the easiest drinking Bourbon I can think of.

I like Basil a lot. It's one of my top favorites. My only issue is that it's bottled at 40% and I wind up drinking more of the bottle in one sitting.

BIB for Early Times started being made in 2017.
Brown-Forman (Jack Daniel's) actually sold the brand to Sazerac (Buffalo Trace) last year as the Early Times brand turned 160.

I gave my father in law a bottle of Woodford Reserve for Christmas. Last week, he used it to make me an Old Fashioned, my first. Wont be my last. It makes a nice Manhattan too, although I usually ask for Basil Hayden if I see it on the bar.

Cant go wrong with either of those. I usually buy Woodford, Basil, or Knob Creek, depending on which I see first on the shelf basically. Though last time around I bought Bakers which is also pretty good.

Another celeb jumping into the bourbon business. Scottie Pippen is the latest to join the ranks. https://www.foodandwine.com/news/scottie-pippen-digits-bourbon?

As with all others, I’ll wait to consume until what I consider to be credible sources try it first.
