Do you "cook" on weeknights?

It's good when one partner loves to cook and the other is a clean freak. ^
I try to cook most nights (and aiming to have leftovers that become a tastier next-day lunch than I could buy!). Often a stir-fry, curry or baked meal is a 1-dish affair. It is the preparation that takes the time!

Mrs Showbizguru always cooks a three-course meal for me every night.... all I do is select the wine to go with it.
It's something I insisted upon when we were thinking about tying the knot.
I provide her with everything she needs to do it - enough money never to have to take a job,a daily cleaner and an au pair to help with the kids plus plenty of free time to go to the gym and have lunch with her friends.
My part of the bargain was always to employ an ugly secretary and always make it home at night.
I know this all sounds old-fashioned in this day and age but you know what - she's happy with the arrangement and so am I.
And it's worked for over 20 years.

I sometimes cook on worknights, but it's usually something fairly simple and quick since I'm often hungry by the time I get home. I cook more elaborate/time-consuming meals on my days off as I enjoy cooking.

Sometimes the ingedients available determine if cooking is more or less elaborate.
I prefer dishes that involve a frypan/wok and can simmer a while.
Best estimate: Around 10mins 'cooking' and 30-40mins letting it simmer!

Depends what you mean by 'cooking'. It's summer now, so a lot of salads are in order, which takes, what, 15 minutes' preparation? Maybe a nice bit of fish with, do that en vaporette in 20, maybe a nice litte creme fraiche sauce in 10... But yes, not cooking the the exception rather than the rule.

Even after working 7am-6pm
I still come home and cook dinner for my husband and I. I really enjoy cooking so coming home and fixing a nice meal is like brushing my teeth - it is something i have to do. I find going out to eat costs so much so we enjoy dining out when there is something I cannot cook like mexican or vietnamese.

Mrs. Andyandy and I cook most nights. Both of us love to cook. Unlike Mrs. BamaVol, neither of us like to clean up.
We try to plan a fairly simple menu for week nights. Tonight its warm goat cheese salads w/ balsamic. Like others have said, we tend to reserve more elaborate dishes for the weekend.

We actually cook slightly more on the road than at home (we have an apartment with full kitchen on the road). She usually gets the menu together and I do the cooking. Unfortunately, neither of us likes to clean up.
When we get home on Fridays, we are usually too tired to cook or even shop for groceries, so we tend to get takeout or go out someplace, then stretch the leftovers until we leave again Sunday afternoon. I hate to do a lot of cooking and then leave something in the fridge to go bad if I don't have time Sunday to consume or store it properly.

Wife hates cooking, and (she'll admit) has some learing to do. But, like Mrs. BamaVol, Mrs. Motor Mouth can not stand a messed up kitchen/house. I on the other can cook and am not the biggest fan of cleaning. Don't get me wrong, I like a clean place, I am just not that excited to do the cleaning.
Back when we did not have kids, we ate out a lot. Now, it is a rare event, unless on the road.

Sure! Nothing like having a home cooked meal, but it gets tiring when one gets home at 7:30pm and one finishes cooking past 8pm. So I tend to cook more on weekends, and for weekdays, it is a quick & easy meal. It could be be a quick pasta dish or if lazy, those potstickers from CostCo is a great shortcut meal.
