Dinner last night at the Sainte George restaurant. Lovely place with very good service but not too impressed with the food. Mrs BV didn’t want much so had a side salad. I ordered a $19 burger that was served with every trendy cliche available in the kitchen: brioche bun, garlic aioli, chimichurri, micro greens, pickled red onion, etc. Ordered medium, received well done. The wine was nice although I couldn’t tell you what it was.
St Augustine has loads of wine bars. We started out in one across the street from the restaurant, Bin 39. Pleasant spot. Again, I couldn’t tell you what we had but it was delicious. Todays plan is to choose a casual place on the beach for seafood. |

Last night, dinner at Gaijin with another couple. It's a Paul Virant restaurant (for those who've heard of him) specializing in okonomiyaki.
Started out with pickled vegetables, short ribs, and bok choy. Each couple the split a pancake. We had Osaka style octopus with an egg on top. The other one was some kind of gluten free version, not sure what was in it. Mochi donuts for dessert. Lots of Suntory whiskey. Totally my kind of food, I loved it. My wife liked the pancake and short rib, but nothing else. We'll probably choose Momotaro's basement yakitori bar over Gaijin, but it was still fun. |

Prepared properly, (and yours looks to be expertly prepared), they are delicious. |

Mmmmmm. Triggers used to be relatively rare in the waters up here. They were a fish caught as by catch, when targeting something else. Over the past 2 years, we have had an influx of them, thanks to warmer waters. (Thanks global warming). In fact, I know Captains that now target them.
