We had dinner last night at The Goblin Market in Mount Dora. No reservations so we were invited to dine in the bar which gave us access to the pub menu as well as the dinner menu. Mrs BV and her dad ordered 5 spice duck breast. I had grilled amberjack off the specials menu. All were accompanied by crisp, thinly sliced vegetables. They had mashed potato as well. I had wild rice and some sort of orange puree to anchor the fish to the plate - it may have been sweet potato. Very nice bread service and excellent micro greens salads with the most delicate vinaigrette I’ve tasted. A bottle of California cab and a couple Drambuies straight up for dessert. Very satisfying. Unfortunately, the place was too dark for pictures and we all dug in the minute the plates hit the table anyway.

Tonight we are heading out of town for the 4th. Depending on traffic and how far along we are, I'm hoping our dinner stop allows my wife to try a Culver's butter burger for the first time ever. If not, maybe on the way home :). |

I would eat there just because of the name.

How did this taste? Did the anchovy clash with the halibut?

opinion? I’ve heard strongly positive comments. I’ve seen the Popeye’s queue at the Sf location.

It was great -- and no clashing. Anchovies add a nice umami flavor, and I suspect that if you didn't know there were anchovies in it, you'd never guess there were. I think anchovies are a great ingredient, and people who shy away from them do so because they don't understand their full flavor potential (or they bit into a filet in a salad and got pricked by a bone).

There are many discussions on here about it. There might even be a whole thread. This wasn't my first.
I can not do a whole anchovy but I agree....in many dishes, it just disappears and leaves a nice salty, umami, rich flavor. I just use anchovy paste (perfect for Caesar salad dressing) and it is very versatile. |

We got our shingles shots this afternoon (2nd for me and 1st for Mrs BV). We went to the brewery to celebrate. And thought we would eat dinner there. But the cook failed to show up for work. So we went home and I cobbled together dinner with cold turkey breast, sweet corn and chopped salad.
