No potatoes. You are probably seeing the radishes. When they cook down they get soft and mellow like potatoes.

My housemates and I don’t eat many starches anymore. I’ve lost 40+ lbs, so I’ve learned how to alter recipes to keep that up.

Psrsnips and turnips are good choices too but try the radishes.

First time cooking with dried rice noodles. Very whacky - just add hot water and let it sit for 10 minutes. Super weird.

If I'm making vegetable beef soup, I'll use carrots, onions, green beans, corn, potatoes, and would probably consider adding parsnips, turnips, and/or radishes, if I had them on hand.

Ugh. The worst recipe. It was NYTs, too! Marinated Tunisian marinated albacore tuna on a bed or arugula with an herbed yogurt sauce.

The marinade seemed fascinating. Pureed onions, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and crushed bay leaves. It's thick, and you then grill them with the marinade on. Which sounds fascinating. Until you realize the tuna only needs grilling a few minutes on each side, so you're basically eating raw onion while picking out small pieces of bay leaf, which are hard to see because there's also green arugula and green herbs in the sauce. Plus I used too much garlic.

Eww...that does sound awful. I hope you were able to scrape that crap off and salvage the tuna.

maybe the onions need to be pre cooked? Very weird!
sometimes nyt has errors and reader comments include better adjustments. That was my experience with their Cacio e Pepe recipe!
