Some random instant noodles I found, drained and stir fried with assorted fish balls/cakes, some beansprouts and an egg...
(Yes, i need help, but I must admit, didn't taste too bad) |
Had dinner at the Pier J lounge in HKG. Can't believe I had eaten all of this but, I enjoyed won-ton noodles, dan dan noodles (2 bowls), chicken siu mai, some fried vegetable like egg roll things, char siu, Shanghai style noodles, some pizza, meatballs and I'm sure a few other things I had forgotten. Oh, also had some kind of siu gou type thing.
Didn't have a chance to have dinner before leaving, so was absolutely famished before my flight. |
Spinach, chard, leek, feta, herbs, and filo pastry to make a large hortokopita, Cretan style. Will provide dinner for several days.

I'm guessing they were all like dim sum like serving sizes? That's one of the downsides of eating after you're really hungry. People generally tend to eat too much after and then feel gorged afterwords. On the bright side, there are way worse places to overeat than the Pier. :)
Yeah, pretty small portion sizes especially given American or even Candian standards, but I definitely...er...gorged. Had I been there with family, friends or even colleagues, I probably wouldn't have gone into Vegas buffet mode, but I was instantly reminded that food really tastes great when one's famished! So, why not? I think the chefs & staff and I were on a first name basis when I was finished feasting. Not that I'd ever bother, but if you entered everything I had eaten into one of those new fangled calorie counters, it'd have easily be 5,000, I'd imagine. But, yeah, just as with any buffet, instant regret for the next several hours post gorging. LOL PS - Forgot, also had some char siu buns! |

Not that it had been intentional, but I had gone about 24 hours without some food except for coffee & iced milk tea?

Unforunately I've never had the privilege of passing through the Pier (or any J lounge there) but have heard good things for some of them. One day... Today, my dinner was garden salad with some goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. |

Pork chops in a light mushroom cream sauce. Served with egg noodles and sauteed broccolini. Kudos to my better half for such a great meal. |

Robot ramen, metreon, downtown San Francisco (near 5th & Mission, across from Marriott hotel)
pork & kimchee ramen $13.07 total, paid with CC a casual ramen luncheon spot would charge $14+ for the ramen plus tax and tip for about $18 minimum. Probably closer to $20 because I think places actually charge $15.50. this was delicious, possibly thanks to spicy, and I would try the robot again. I’m fine with a robot. Most eateries are short-staffed so it’s not like the robot is taking away a job. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e145bdaac.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...071ae4c44.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c6425c729.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1b8f1a4a2.jpeg |
