Kagoshima A5 strip - got a Big Green Egg a few weeks back and decided to try this on it. I usually just cook them inside on cast iron, but it makes a mess.

Cranked the Egg up to 650-700 and put a ceramic plate on it. Cooked for about 1.5 min each side to sear. Sprinkled some lava salt to finish it.

Came out really good and my kids grabbed most of it. Proud dad here raising carnivore daughters :D

Thats not myoglobin/“juice” on the cutting board, it’s the intramuscular fat.

My son is at a birthday overnight and they had CMG last night. And on Friday I went to fetch CMG for him and his girlfriend although she only had CMG lemonade.

i think I had a Trader Joe’s yogurt and a bowl of cereal on Friday because of my big Friday pho luncheon.

yesterday I went to a bbq and had a big luncheon so ended up eating chips and salsas plus a bowl of cereal. I’m kinda confused with all this.

As we have hundreds of great taquerias in San Francisco and most places in California, it pains me to see my son coveting CMG. I absolutely don’t get it. He says it’s about calorie count and it still makes zero sense. He gets a high protein (chicken) bowl with light rice plus guacamole and other greens and it still is so antithesis for me. I do think that he and his sporty boy friends all prefer CMG over independently owned and operated taquerias, maybe based on the calorie consistency.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve only eaten at CMG with another mom and her daughters. And last year at a Friday night football game I got a CMG burrito because our school’s catering was only CMG products. Oh fear.

I have never eaten at Chipotle. I have seen hundreds of pictures of their food, and none of it looks like anything I would like. I'm trusting my instincts. I do love real Mexican food and could easily eat it every day.

I basically never eat it back in the States as I can find plenty of other good Tex-Mex around. However, I did recently partake earlier this year in Kuwait where I had a chicken quesadilla and some chips and queso - yummy, but I was also missing home (so that might explain the craving) and don’t typically eat Mexican food outside of the US and Mexico as it’s less universal than, say, pizza.
