Dualit toaster

I used one this week both at my mom's and sisters. I liked how quick they toast. I looked one up on amazon and they are $240. That's a lot of money for a toaster. Anyone have one? Anyone thinking of getting one?

Looks like they are built in the UK. That would explain the high price.

They were the hot status toaster a few years ago. Every wedding registry had a Dualit on it. IMO, i can think of about 1000 other ways to spend that $$. How much time are you wasting now waiting for your toast? Is saving an extra minute really that important? I think it is all hype but if you think waiting 3 minutes for toast is too long, go for it.
Plus they are bulky. I prefer a toaster oven.

I thought the $100 my better half spent for a breville 'bit more' was a lot to spend for a toaster, but it's definitely a great toaster, consistent and easy to fine tune. I can't see spending much more than that.

For someone single, perhaps an all in one toaster oven with a convection / air fryer function would be ideal.

Yeah you are also limited with the bread thickness in a traditional toaster. And you can't make cinnamon toast either... So I find a toaster oven to be better too.

I've got one burner out on our toaster (wedding gift 20+ years ago). I also think toaster over is the way to go...only downside is the counter space it takes up.

Yeah...wasn't Ian complaining about a bagel not fitting in to some toaster (his mom's?) a while ago? Toaster oven is far more versatile.

Toaster oven is the proper functional solution, IMHO.

These are fashion accessories. Just know that folks with a

The thing with a dualit is that with proper care, they will last a lifetime.

I have a very basic model that I will replace in a few years with one of their more robust and lasting models.

Big deal. Normal toasters are cheap. I just got one for my niece that she asked for....on Amazon for $29.99 with 5 star reviews and she loves it. She can buy 10 more for the price of one Dualit. I know my parents had some inexpensive toaster for about 20 years...we used to make fun of them because it was retro looking. It never broke.

The one we have that just lost an element is 25 years old (cheap wedding gift) the other at the cabin is even older than that one with no signs of giving up.

I'm not sure "last a lifetime" is too big a selling point for a toaster.

What exactly is "proper care" for a toaster? I've never done any maintenance on ours....maybe they'd last longer if I knew what that was

People buy them because they’re expensive so they can look cool.

Cleaning out any crumbs from time to time is about all that can be done.

No doubt about it.....

The first thing I do when entering a new persons house is rush to the kitchen to see if the people have a "cool" toaster.
