The one we have that just lost an element is 25 years old (cheap wedding gift) the other at the cabin is even older than that one with no signs of giving up.

I'm not sure "last a lifetime" is too big a selling point for a toaster.

What exactly is "proper care" for a toaster? I've never done any maintenance on ours....maybe they'd last longer if I knew what that was
