Just now saw this, and yes, that was me. We even made it into the North Face video they were making.

For all the Islay haters on this forum I took a special side trip from Glasgow to Islay prior to a conference. The flight on a 24 seater turbo-prop is spectacular and the whiskies from Laphroaig, Bowmore and Bruichladdich even better on site.
We stayed in the same B&B as the Thirsty Traveler, Kevin Brauch, and had dinner in a restaurant with over 200 single malts.
I own a square meter of Islay, thanks to Laphroaig, and would love to go back there. Anyone who hates Islay single malts, Lagavullin, Ardbeg and Bunnahabhain is welcome to send them my way. I'd also accept Jura, Talisker and Highland Park from islands other than Islay.

I'd second becherovka. Was at a Christmas party in Prague a couple years ago and every time I met someone they had to either take a shot of this with me or have one with tonic. I believe they call it beton when mixed with tonic which in czech means something like concrete and that's pretty much what it felt like I draft for the next couple days. Easily the worst hangover I've had in a very long time.

If you fly LOT in Business class your meal will end with a little glass of something that looks and tastes exactly like cough syrup.

Not sure it's the worst drink ever, but Cave Creek Chili Beer isn't very good.

I agree. I really wanted to like it, but on its own, it's terrible. It is pretty nice if you add some to a margarita though. @:-)

Chili beer in general is foul stuff. Adding heat to a poor-quality lager just doesn't work.

Now, I have had a few chili-infused beers which were actually pretty good, all microbrews and usually a stout or porter which had enough body and sweetness to carry the heat.

Ordered a Bloody Mary one Mardi Gras morning in New Orleans. They accidentally made it with vanilla vodka. Yuck!
Drank it anyways.

Two Towns Made Marion cider--so sweet that it's entirely unpalatable. I do have a preference for semi-dries, but one of my coworkers has tried it too and was just as repulsed as I was. Unfortunately, the bar by my office (where my team goes for drinks once or twice a month) only has one cider tap, and it's always from that brewery (who reeeeeaaaally like to make things sweet).

I agree. And so many ways to make it, too. Hard to imagine that one couldn't find a "variety" to suit him/her. Unless the objection is to tomato juice. Then it's pretty much a non-starter.

For awful, Laphroaig. I could make a similar drink by chugging a bottle of Liquid Smoke.
Love Laphroaig!

Worst drink I've ever had was at a local seafood restaurant, a concoction called "Pearly Legal" which consisted of sake, pear brandy and balsamic infusion.

It would have been good if they had used less balsamic, because that overpowered everything else instead of just adding a contrasting note to the overall drink.

It's no longer on the restaurant's drink menu, which does not surprise me.
