A Peroni with lunch at Carrabba's. Anchor Steam at a bar on the way home. My first in 20 years and it reminded me why I hadn't had one in 20 years. Yech.

Sorry, I forgot to send you advice. Hope you had fun!

I tried the New Belgium Hemperor HPA. Smells just like hemp, or so I am told.

Had a couple great NE IPAs while visiting Albany:
Bolton Landing's Up in the Air No. 2
Single Cut's Is This the Real Life? DDH IPA
Equilibrium's MC2 Imperial IPA (Obviously not a NE style IPA)
Crossroads' New Normal Unfiltered IPA

LOL, no worries! I had a blast. Lots of interesting beers. Hemperor HPA smells like when Mr. Kipper and I were the youngest people willingly at the Moody Blues concert. While we weren't engaging in anything that required smoking, others around us were.

I grabbed a room temperature 6 pack of Ballast Point Dead Ringer Oktoberfest on the way home last night. There are a couple in the fridge for tonight.

Brewdog Punk IPA - its grown massively in popularity in the UK in the past 10 or so years since I first started drinking it, and I do have a soft spot for their citrussy, hoppy IPA

Admittedly, not my favorite style, but so far I have been disappointed by all 3 Oktoberfest beers I have tried this Fall. I'm expecting something that coats my mouth and can be savored after swallowing. Instead they've all been beer flavored waters. The Ballast Point was easily the weakest of the three.

Anchor Steam. Peroni is relatively tasteless, therefore inoffensive. I probably shouldn't but I order an Italian beer at an Italian restaurant and a Mexican beer at a Mexican restaurant.

I think a typical stout does this for me. Certainly Sierra Nevada's stout As opposed to their Oktoberfest.

Last night: Sam Adams Boston Lager. Tonight: my daughter gave me a six pack of Stone Tangerine Express, an IPA with tangerine and pineapple. I'm grilling snapper and asparagus and it feels like a nice pairing. Served with a fresh lime that one of Mrs BamaVol's yoga buddies picked from her backyard tree.

Had several Aslin beers today; good to be back in the US and picked up a bunch of their releases. Icelandic beer was decent--sometimes quite good--and I had something like 55 different beers there (only a few generic euro-lagers among them), but I'm glad to have some super-flavorful stouts today.
