That said, I tried Leinenkugel's grapefruit variety recently and was totally disappointed in that, too.
The Leinenkugel's shandy is very good. Don't try the Berry Weiss though, unless liquid Fruity Pebbles is your type of thing.

Leinenkugel constantly disappoints. I think they must use some crap yeast.

Berry Weiss is utterly vile. One of the worst beers I ever tried, and that list runs way WAY into the hundreds.

OK, well, I don't drink anything with "weiss" in the name, but you raise a good point.

I just happened upon a beer that really took me by surprise - Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan - love it.

I'll be driving to CO soon and plan on picking up a few brews from the local guys.

Any recommendations in Denver or near RMP, or Arvada or Brighton?

Note: This is one of the nicest threads we have had here since I joined. :-)

If you like dark beer, Bell's Expedition Stout is about as good as it gets, certainly in its price range.

Their pub in Kalamazoo is also nice with good food. And there is a bar down the street called Shakespeare-something that is also worth a stop. I seem to recall a good happy hour there.

The Wyncoop in LoDo is the original Denver brewpub. Worth a visit.

Spent the weekend in Alabama. Split a six pack of Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin with my son in law. Also picked up six cans of Coffee Oatmeal Stout from Good People Brewing Co of B'ham.

I picked up a variety 24 pack of Alaska at Costco yesterday. I'm looking forward to trying the Double IPA.

I just got a case of Lagunitas IPA at Costco yesterday for $28. On occasion there are some great beer deals there, especially around Christmastime with nice gift sets.
