While boarding on the late departure TPA>LAX DL1817 on 3/9 I heard the frantic gate agent saying "The breezeway is ONLY for people who have missed their earlier boarding group number". The line was largely ignored for first class boarding until the agent realized another line had formed in the breezeway for boarding. And yes, it was too far away from the boarding machine making the overall process confusion and inconvenient. CO and UA have done it well.

Flight today ORD to ATL - first class boarded first with no mention of breezeway. Don't know how the sequence went after. Hopefully this is the promised fix.

Good news. On my last couple flights, people have stood on the magic carpet only to be blocked by non-Breezeway pax crowding the podium. |

Well today I heard the agent announce "Breezeway will be open after Groups 1" So as soon as they start boarding a man RACES (literally knocking folks out of his way) to the Breezeway so he can be first LOL! She did take him right after the first few folks, but..... Apparently that "after Group 1" meant nothing to him!!!!
ANd then to top it off the agent wouldn't let him take three carryons aboard.... LOL! (The plane was overbooked and they were really cracking down on carryons. The two girls in front of me also had to step aside and "repack") |
So, if you are Crown Room member and want to enjoy the lounge a little longer or you get delayed because of a SNAFU at security and you are entitled to a Zone 1 early boarding; you get there after Zone 1 is called, you have to wait in the back of the line after customers who may not be loyal Delta/ST or paid FC passengers? I don't get that.
I bet you are the kind of people that reminded the teacher right before Christmas break that she forgot to assign homework. - HF |

The problem is not the idea. The problem is the implementation. NW and CO do it right.

Or... and I know this is a CRAZY thought... you could just board when your zone is called like everyone else? What is an extra 5-10 minutes on the plane? And yes, I fly very often and yes, I fly on very long flights. Seriously, it's not the end of the world to just board when your zone is called and not before or after, is it?

Should airport eliminate elite security lines? Should DL get rid of priority boarding for Medallions or F passengers? Like elite security lines and priority boarding for those groups, Breezeway is another benefit of being a DL Elite or F passenger. It allows you to receive preferntial treatment.

I retract my statement that DL seams to have fixed the implementation.
Just arrived ATL->LAX and they did they same old mistake opening he general boarding line before zone 4 was called. Thus, people lined up there and got skipped over by those using the breezway line. Hello DL, you need to rope off one line or the other until zone 4 is called. Period. |

- HF Interesting analogy, but the response of our kind might be--We have this desire not to show up tardy and disrupt the class just because (insert excuse) happened to prevent us from being there on time. I am hoping that I read more into the post than was originally intended. |

Sometimes it's the little things, like an FA's smile or a special welcome aboard..... |

Not the end of the world. But if I get to the gate late after my zone is initially called (for whatever reason) it is a nice benefit to be able to board ahead of those 100-200 passengers in zones 4-9.
