Or... and I know this is a CRAZY thought... you could just board when your zone is called like everyone else? What is an extra 5-10 minutes on the plane? And yes, I fly very often and yes, I fly on very long flights. Seriously, it's not the end of the world to just board when your zone is called and not before or after, is it?
I am glad you live in a perfect world or I am glad you are so disciplined that you can live your life so rigidly or I feel sorry for you that such a change upsets you SO much they everyone else should be punished. - HF |
I am for Breezeway. I like the modifications. I agree that it should be started after zone 3 has boarded or made the exclusive means of boarding for zones 1-3.
But I wonder what percentage of flyers are entitled to it. Its benefit certainly diminishes with the more people that are entitled to use it. For example, if 50%+ of a flight's passengers are Medallion, it starts to lose its effect. |

Exaggeration, much? Lastly, I just feel that if you aren't at the gate when boarding begins, you should just board with whatever zone is being called. It isn't 100-200 people!! You are, at worst, in line with 20-30 people. |

So, after reading all this I still don't get it. I thought UnofficialDLHelper had the solution but it seems it's still not working that way.
Zone 1, Medallian member, at the gate 30 minutes prior.....which line do I board through? |

A lot of pronouns being thrown around, but I never saw anyone claim that someone should be flogged for not boarding when their zone was called? The 2nd paragraph sounds like there is angst over some of us disagreeing with you. Rest assured, the Breezeway is there in this perfect world and you can enjoy using it.

Ahhh, but if you are a Grand Poobah Patron (operatic talk for Medallion) you may have been able to rent those seats as a special benefit and indeed maybe an usher will even escort you to your seat.
Sometimes it's the little things, like an FA's smile or a special welcome aboard..... Yes we are medallions and we fly more than the non-medallions--I just don't believe that it entitles us to jump ahead in lines. We should be able to board after our zone (or row(s) in the old days) has/have been called, just as it has always been. |
Here's the thing....
In Atlanta at times the "Breezeway" line is LONGER then the regular line. And they folks in the Breezeway seem to be fairly rude to the agents if they don't clear that line. Maybe in cities with FEWER Medallions this is a great perk. If your city is "Delta" heavy then during peak business travel times is this really a perk? If EVERYONE is in the Breezeway line what did you accomplish? You moved from one line to another, but this one is "Special" LOL!!!! (Nashville would have worked the same way, even when I was platnium flying on full fare out of there it could be hard to "upgrade" because half the plane was also in the same situation on a Monday morning!!!) Plus it's not like folks are waiting until zone 9 to board... What I see is that the "Breezeway" is being used during Zones 1 and 2 to cut off your fellow Mediallions and First Class because "I'm special" So the whining on here isn't what seems to be really happening. IMHO we Delta flyers are equal to SW LOL! I watched my flight to Kansas City last week. The First Class guys were literally standing in the Breezeway line 20 minutes before the plane started boarding. (Exactly WHO they were beating on board is questionable?) This was for one of the Comair jets with First Class so "overhead" space wasn't an issue, you were going to gate check. Comair doesn't serve booze on the ground so you weren't going to get an extra drink... WHAT WAS THE RUSH? I swear Delta has become the new SW. SW dealt with the "line up" an hour before the plane issue, but you still see it with Delta. I waited until Zone 1 was called, got on in the only open line (which for reasons Comair understands was the Breezeway LOL!) checked my bag and took my seat. No real difference between that and the expereince of standing there for what turned out to be 45 minutes (we were delayed) to make sure I was "first" on the plane. |

The other day I stood near the gate while GAs spend 5 minutes going through peoples' itineraries to see how much they paid and then proceeded to call out to pax who were standing right there...I cant believe you only paid $X amount to go to Y, that's a great deal. I found the whole thing to be completely inappropriate that they would go through random records like that and then call it out publicly. I wont say the station that it happened in, but it was inappropriate. Ive also had another CRC agent randomly tell me...your birthday is close to mine. Then she said (after I asked how she knew) that she and another agent just looked it up in my record because they were curious since they see me a lot. Interesting to say the least!
Ive found many CRC agents spend a lot of time checking their own email or surfing the web while on duty. I know it's allowed, but many times it seems like youre interrupting them to ask a question! Just a short rant, sorry:) |
DL's definative answer to the Breezeway question.
I sent an email to CS:
So much confusion exists on the proper use of the breezeway; both by flyers and gate agents. Which line do I board through if I am travelling in F, zone 1, and I am a Medallian? Breezeway or regular? Thank you. Marylou Hardly an hour later, I got a reply: Dear Ms Marylou Thank you for contacting us. Please pose your question to one of the airport personnel the next time you are there as this is a function handled by them. We appreciate your business and trust your future flights will be enjoyable. We hope you will continue to make Delta your airline of choice. Sincerely, Rodney Taylor Online Customer Support Desk So now we know. |
so basically they told you to go ask the very people you already said were confused as well. brilliant.
|
LMAO.
What else can you say? |
Wow....I feel better about it now!
|
The breezeway doesn't really seem to matter anyway. I was in LAX the other day and they didn't even pay attention to the fact I was standing in the breezeway line.
