Skysaver on 11/19 for travel on 10/21. MDT - cvg - MCI with a return that afternoon. And why these may not be hopping destinations - I was surprised the mdt-cvg and back again was availble. They are such small planes and almost always filled.

My wife and I planned to visit the UAE and the Maldives in March 2006, but our schedules recently changed. As a result, we had to give up our two Business Class award seats on the EK JFK-DXB nonstop, as well as the two J award seats DXB-MLE on EK (thereby freeing up some award inventory for anyone looking to get to the UAE on February 28 and returning to NY on March 14...)

We decided instead to leave in April, shorten the trip to nine days, and eliminate the side trip to the Maldives. So in place of the EK seats, we secured two roundtrip Business Class SkySaver tickets DCA-DTW-CDG-DXB on NW and AF for early April '06. It took a good 45 minutes on the phone with SMS, but we finally found an itinerary that worked. As usual, the agent was very patient and very helpful.

We also decided to visit Tuscany in May. Four fruitless calls to SMS seeking Business award seats on any SkyTeam carrier to any European gateway city left me frustrated about the availabilty of Business Class SkySaver inventory. We tried CDG, FCO, MXP, LGW, BRU, FRA, and found nothing, despite the fact that many if not most of the flights are wide open in BE.

But after reading the post above, I checked the DL website today and found plenty of SkySaver J seats from ATL to LGW in May. In 10 minutes, I reserved two Business Class SkySaver seats IAD-ATL-LGW for the exact dates I needed in May. I can only assume DL added more seats to the award inventory. Now I can purchase a pair of dirt cheap roundtrip tickets LGW-FLR on Meridiana ($200 r/t p/p) and we're set.

My wife and I were able to redeem two AUS-IAH-CDG-DKR/ACC-MXP-ATL-AUS biz class tickets over the Xmas/NYE holidays.. though now turns out we won't be able to go.

We now hope to use them to go to Madagascar next year.

Just booked 2 Biz Elite tix PHF-ATL-FRA in Sept '06 using old miles (140k). That's just 70k a ticket! Man, some of those old awards are pretty nice. Better use those old miles while you still have them!

Tix for in laws PDX-PBI(2) in January Sky Savers coach. Got the dates I wanted. Might even change the dates and currently, the new dates I want are available.
Also, could have had the award booked on NW or Continental for the same timeframes. DL had better times for me.

I got two FC skysaver awards (75,000 miles ea.) from PBI to HNL in June of 2006. I picked out my seats at the time but that was about two months ago. Since then they have had about three schedule changes and we have no seat assignment now! I don't know if we should just wait until closer to departure to call because they may have schedule changes (several times)again!

2 SkySaver Y tix booked on 5 day notice to attend football game
outbd 11/18 CO MCO-IAH ,
rtn 11/20 DL IAH-CVG-TLH-MCO

I found the routing by searching partner (CO&NW) award websites and doing city-by-city one way searches on delta.com, this was after SMS had told me it couldn't be done. Then called back with specific itin and was told no availability, I insisted there was and eventually agent "found" the availability after 5 minutes of bluster. The $50 fee for short notice booking was eventually offset when the IAH-CVG leg was predictably cancelled due to equipment unavailable, was moved to a preferable IAH-ATL-MCO routing plus $50 each IROP voucher.
