12/25 SLC-ATL-LGA (Y and Y; redeye out)

Spent 50k miles + $10. Got the exit row on LGA-MSP, bulkhead (EC) on the other three.

The reason I call it a success is because I booked it at 11pm on the 23rd. It only cost me $10, not $1400 @:-)

The nonstops were sold out (no award availability), otherwise I would have taken those.

Well, as a CPM redemption, it's not bad. Paying 2x more, not so good. Did you check FC seats? I often find FC seats available at similar amount, even when Y is sold out, or high mileage.

F both ways would have been $1500 and change. You're right, though, this was a little over 2.8 cpm. I'm just glad there was availability. I sure miss those miles though

Oh, I don't think I actually looked at that. I was trying to spend as little of whatever it was I was spending since it was an unplanned/emergency trip. I wonder if that would have given me the nonstops as options though.

I'd say I'll give that a shot next time but I truly hope there is no next time. People kept telling me I should spend my miles and I always said no, I'm saving them for a rainy day/emergency (or RTW...). I'm glad I had more than enough for the emergency situation.

BOS-AMS-GLA July 23rd
GLA-AMS Aug 10th
AMS-BOS Aug 13th

A330, but our two kids are 6 and 4 so the 2-2-2 seat config is fine

Decided to make some changes to our trip, below is now what we've got:

JFK-SVO-FCO (SU J, SU J)

JNB-CDG-AMM (AF J, AF J)
DXB-NBO-SEZ (KQ J, KQ J)

PVG-JFK (MU J)

Taxes came out to $376.40 / person... still no YQ ^

Question: I just wanted to double-check with the experts... The agent had a lot of trouble because of an apparent change in booking codes for CZ/MU mid-July. Can you guys confirm that these are the correct booking classes?

CZ J = I
CZ Y = O
MU J = O

Those are the same booking codes that EF shows for CZ award space. MU I'm not sure on. EF's data is bogus, and it's been a long time since I had MU space on an award, so I can't help there.

It's very interesting that carriers that usually have no YQ don't have it for RTWs. I think that gives an interesting way to increase the value of SkyMiles, if you have the miles and time to do a RTW. (Even moreso since there is no max mileage on a RTW award, it seems.)

Nice itinerary! I'm not jealous. Not jealous at all. Out of curiosity, do you have any idea what the CPM comes out to be?

If these legs were priced as one-ways, I get a total of around $23,240 = 8.3 CPM. I'm sure something similar could be had for less using one of the alliance RTW programs, but with such high mileage (51,000+) I don't think it fits into any of the standard alliance RTW options. I'm happy with it

BWI-JFK-NRT-HKG (DL F, DL J, DL J)

PEK-DTW-IAD (DL J, DL Y)

120,000 +$57 in April.

I am planning to call to see if I can add a HKG-XXX (mainland China) segment, making HKG a stopover. I'm hoping to get into Xi'an or Chengdu (on China Eastern) before heading to Beijing.

OJ
HKG-NRT (DL Y)
NRT-ATL-RDU (DL J,F)

LAX-CAN-SIN (CZ J)
OJ
HKG-NRT-MSP (DL J)

Booked for December 2013

Only one ticket in J on HKG-NRT leg so I voluntarily downgraded one ticket to Y on that leg only. Otherwise quite pleased.
