Just learned that about 3000 FAA safety inspectors have been furloughed! Posted over in TravelBuzz about it.

At a bar, I generally tip $1/drink on subsequent rounds, but for the first round, I'll tip more than that. It generally means extra attentive service.

That will mostly impact outfits that don't do maintenance under Part 121 & Part 145 certificates. Delta has both. My guess is that the only impact on DL will be delayed review of some paperwork.

My tip for delivery drivers is, to some extent, related to the current weather.

When paying for drinks with a mileage-earning credit card, which any self-respecting FTer would do, how would you accomplish the same thing?

Carry a $20, slip it to the bartender with your card, and tell them that's their tip for the first round.

What do you tip the cocktail waitress in a casino where the drinks are free?

Generally, I give $1 per drink if it is just Coke and $2 if it is rum & Coke. Interestingly, perhaps, I asked two waitresses, in two different casinos, if men and women tip differently. They both told me that men almost always tip them and that women usually do not.

Even as a bartender in NY, I generally had a similar experience. Although sometimes the man with the hot wife would give her the money to give to me, which was interesting but I didn't mind. Some women did tip though (on their own). Men generally tip more, though.

Usually a red chip for the first (a bit less on subsequent orders), since i want to establish good drink service. Also, if on the main casino floor, I want to make sure I get the proper premiums. In high limit, usually a red each round; since it often involves (more) expensive pours which they have some control over (like XO Cognac or Grand Marnier Cuvée du Centenaire).

How much is a red? and does it vary by casino or state or country?

Good morning, Guys. I didn't sleep too well. I went to sleep early last night. I was extremely tired. The weather is doing great. No more hot weather until next summer 2014. I am being too tired of them about a hot weather.

Usually $5. I don't really know it there is a "standard", but it's probably not worth $5 in Europeon casinos.

(Not an expert, but I had a college roommate who worked as a keno runner during the summers. The experts will probably chime in now to tell me I'm wrong.)

Why would we tell you that you are wrong? We have no idea of what seasons your friend worked as a keno runner.
