My first trip since my "return to glory" as a DM ended up with 5 UGs out of 6 segments (and I was #1 for the UG on the sixth segment, ATL-CLE, which had been sold out in F at least three days prior to departure). All in all, I was pleased with the results.

I have gotten more upgrades since February than I have for the last 3 months of the year as a DM. I'm sure some of it is the drop off but it feels good. Mostly routes from YYC-SLC/MSP.
Also, had two regional jets from YYC-SLC and YYZ-DTW come on the plane and pull me up from C+ to First after boarding finished. Really glad they are following that policy. I know we hear all the times they do NOT do this, so want to point out there are gate agents doing this.

First year as a DM (with a Reserve card) and was hoping to have a chance at more upgrades this year but that may have been wishful thinking. Flying my first domestic flight this year MSP-PHX today and DL continued to offer upgrades to F for $600+ up until check in. I am now 15/60 on the list for 3 seats…

Wonder if I'm seeing the effects of MM status applied to upgrade order in action. SAN to PHX roundtrip on cheap fares, $180 each way. Upgraded at the window on three out of four segments. Then was #1 on the list of 30 for upgrades with two open seats on the last segment. Received the upgrade prior to boarding. No Reserve card.

I understand what Delta is doing, and don't completely begrudge them for it. They've been very straightforward about First/D1 revenue. At the same time, it absolutely dilutes the complimentary upgrade benefit, especially for DM. I should easily clear into D1 on this flight, but Delta is clearly trying to get someone to buy into D1, not just within the upgrade window, but within the check-in window.
If someone wants those D1 seats for $1,100 upsell, though? They can have them.

Re: my prior post: at check-in today, Delta was still pushing an $1,100 D1 upgrade, on a Saturday morning flight with 6 open D1 seats and 13 open C+ seats. Upon checkin, I'm currently #1 of 17, with those 6 D1 seats still available.

Last minute work trip.
2/25/24: LGA-ATL 10 out of 60+ 0 F seats. got C+ aisle Felt like whole NYC was traveling down to Atlanta that day. Lots of flights were sold out of F seats.
2/27/24: ATL-LGA upgraded to F at gate. Flight got delayed an hour to some weather in NYC.

I'm wondering if anyone has seen a tangible benefit of paid C+ vs. main cabin for upgrade success. I know there was some discussion about whether C+ would be considered its own cabin for purposes of comp upgrades to F. I have limited data points, but thus far I've seen no benefit from buying C+ on my ATL-PDX-ATL route. I'm 2/2 upgrading from main cabin, and 0/2 upgrading from paid C+. In all 4 cases, I was either the last to be upgraded or first on the list after all upgrades cleared.
