When will DL announce this rollback?

If the terms are only nominally different then I plan to leave DL in later 2024.

Planning a trip to France in early 2024. I’d like to know the rollback details so I know to either to blow a bunch of miles - DL, Flying Blue or Flying Club - for the trip thereby saving a bunch of cash or to fully purchase the ticket thereby advancing status earning MQDs (and MQMs by if DL retains the scheme).

Zero risk booking the DL miles ticket now before prices increase. You can always cancel. I have many speculative award flights booked that I might or might not use.

The short answer is: no one knows. DL either:
  • is scared for another blowback if they screw up
  • have not figured out a way to not sabotage their relationship further with Amex
  • will not make significant rollbacks anyway

My hunch is All of the above. The wait continuesbut dont hold your breath.

Im NYC based, and already exploring AA/BA for some of my international trips in 2024.

I just did my own rollback last night, Delta Business Reserve to Delta Platinum, rather than the Delta Gold or Blue Card. I'm absolutely sick of all the restrictions of the companion pass and RUCs, and fighting for status. At least the companion pass on the Delta Platinum wouldn't need to be utilized every year to justify the price difference over Gold. I can also put one $5,000 purchase on it a year, and will at least get a 1.5X boost.

I don't get your comment about 1.5x boost? I looked over the terms for a Delta Platinum card and I don't see anything about a 1.5x for $5000 purchases. Isn't that a feature of only the regular Amex Platinum card? And isn't it a better value to spend on a double cash card or Venture X or something?

I'm downgrading to a Gold since I've still got a bunch of points and the 15% discount comes in handy, plus the free checked bags, main 1 boarding, etc. Since I switched to AA I'm not going to purchase many Delta tickets cash anyway so the companion pass is even less likely to be useful to me than it is already.

I get 1.5x on my DL corporate reserve after I spend $150k. But DL Amex offers no other boost on all purchases that I am aware of.

This is how abusive relationships work. An abuser promises a change to keep the victim, but the change never happens.

So far we have not seen any announcements that Skymiles award tickets will not continue to earn MQDs so you could still use miles and earn MQDs on said ticket as long as the flights are on DL metal booked with DL miles. Also, as noted above, there's no risk to booking a mileage ticket now and having something on the books and then canceling without penalty and rebooking flights through a different program or with cash later if changes are announced that redirect your strategy.

If you value Delta Miles at 1.3 cents per miles, a boost makes it 1.95% back in miles. Not a big loss over a 2%. cash back card to keep the account active, and to write off the annual fee.

The topic of this thread is extremely misleading. It suggests that Delta is rolling back some changes.

For all we know, there's no roll back of anything.

Concur 💯 %. DL Amex is a sock drawer card now (always was for me)

UA and AA have no reason to change their programs except for Kirbys fetish to imitate everything DL. UA and AA lounges dont have lines out the door and UA elites are used to being 20th on the upgrade list and shafted on free upgrades.

I get it that DL's card is platinum, but I'd rather have a plain plastic card, 2 bags free, priority boarding, and for $275 more, UC membership.
I just got a new DL biz Amex - why not - but only for the SUB. Then it goes in the sock drawer and I will decide at renewal if the perks justify the AF.

The Chase UC card is a far better deal though I could see a price hike just as Kirbys way of mimicking DL.

First, they "heard" the passengers to make changes.

Then, they will "hear" the focus group :-) expect fewer benefits and more paid options :-)

Nice!

I only have the Amex Amazon Prime Business and Amex personal Plat w/ Delta as preferred carrier so I am looking....

This is tempting to get the 90K SUB but the 8K spend is too high for my small business.

If the spend was $4K, I'd jump on it.....

When I see the words roll back the image that comes to my mind is of a guy who somehow managed to survive being run over by a steamroller glancing up to see the operator shift the machine into reverse gear.
