CVG downsizing
Fly out of CVG probably 6-7 times a year. Noticed a few things today;
1.) Appears Delta’s check in area has been shrunk. They’re still on the left side but several of the check in desks have been removed of all branding.
2.) Flew out of B9 this morning; the Delta branding of the gate was also removed. Also noticed this on B10, B7, and maybe B8? Also all mention of Delta walking down those jet bridges have been removed.
just a sad reminder of Delta’s continued shrinking out of CVG.

Maybe their long term contract for most of that airport finally expired? Awhile ago they agreed to let the airport tear down a concourse despite still having to pay for it.

Are other airlines using gates in the B concourse? Maybe it’s AA I am thinking of that now uses gates in B instead of Concourse A (either gates in A and B or now just B).
***Edit: I checked the status of todays CVG-DFW AA flights and all departed from gates B22, B24, and B28. Maybe this is why some B gates are unbranded or even common use.

I fly out of CVG every week on DL. In my opinion, DL has maintained their flight level at a minimum or even increased it. The passenger level is back above pre covid. There are still some DL directs that I wish they would bring back(DFW, BWI, SFO, PHL, AUS) but they options are still good enough for me. DAY has REALLY reduced their DL presence. Only ATL and LGA(1x day)

CVG also lost BDL, CLT, MCI, STL, and ORD (and seasonal CUN) flights during Covid. AUS flights have actually returned but only operate 5x weekly starting next month. AA has stated that they want to grow CVG.

Totally forgot about those, especially the ORD one. Would love to see that one back as well. I think they had AUS and then stopped it recently. Glad to hear its coming back. I am glad CVG still has the LAX and LAS directs, even if the returns are red eyes. I take those each at least once a month and it makes life so much easier.

Agree that the DL service at DAY is pretty sparse and hasn't seen much recovery. About the only form of recovery is we've gone back up to being all CR9s to ATL to being all or mostly mainline again to ATL. But it seems like long gone are the days of a 2-3x a day to DTW plus 1-2x a day to MSP plus 5-6x daily to ATL, including the occasional 757 to ATL. And the flight times are rough too. On some days the only arrival into DAY after the lunch window via ATL is the midnight arrival. Going out of DAY, the first flight out is 6:00 AM then one around noon and then now a 2:30 PM flight. No early evening departure at least on this week's schedule. I often find myself driving to CMH or CVG for way better schedules and options.

DL has brought back CVG-AUS. I do with they'd bring back some of the daytime flights back from the West Coast (LAX & LAS). These flights are redeyes right now (and really early departures out of CVG). SEA-CVG is currently a daytime flight and CVG-SEA is a late evening departure.

CMH is supposed to add more DL flights once a new terminal is in place along with a Sky Club
In addition, with the high populatin growth in Central Ohio along with the thousands of new jobs coming to the area (Intel as an example), I would expect DL to become a more prominent player at CMH
