Delta Increasing Medallion Qualifying Dollar Thresholds in 2015

Delta is increasing the MQD requirements for earning 2016 Medallion status, which is based on flights flown between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015, as follows:

Silver Medallion MQDs increasing to $3,000 (Previously $2,500)
Gold Medallion MQDs increasing to $6,000 (Previously $5,000)
Platinum Medallion MQDs increasing to $9,000 (Previously $7,500)
Diamond Medallion MQDs increasing to $15,000 (Previously $12,500)

If they really want to reward their FREQUENT FLYERS the levels should be even higher and weed out those who think they are......

If you are not flying at these levels, you are not a frequent flyer or one in which DL should be rewarding.

Article states waiver at $25k stays intact, though if the requirements creep even closer toward the waiver it'll be interesting to see what happens.

TPG states that the DL AmEx $25,000 spend waiver will remain in place.

Really begs the question as to why DL didn't ID these thresholds the first time they ran the analytics and set the current MQD requirements. One would have to imagine, even before MQDs, that DL knows exactly how much each FF spends and how this relates to each medallion level.

We're not even a full year in.

It's ok guys... if you live in Seattle or NYC, you'll be given an MQD waiver + 12 months of SkyClub membership for taking one flight.

Surely they didn't want to scare too many people away at the beginning. That said, I feel equally sure that the whole thing was planned in advance in steps.
