Trashed Airplane Garbage and trash filled the seats of an Airbus A332 aircraft after the conclusion of a Philadelphia Eagles charter flight from Seattle to Philadelphia last year. Photograph posted by FlyerTalk member tod701 on December 12, 2013.

Another person who wore shoes with no socks. I don't mind the feet on the bulkhead if they wear socks.

Can I just point out that (in my opinion) it's ruder to take a photo of someone without their permission and post it online than to <insert hall of shame offense here>?

I'm all for ranting about poor flight etiquette, but really, posting photos is fighting fire with fire.

LoL....I disagree.

The world is full of stupid and unhygienic people.

So what if their disgusting antics get posted online?

We now live in a world of instant video and photos. Rule is: Don't do anything embarrassing that you wouldn't want to see on the internet.

Pictures like this remind me to think twice before touching anything in that pocket, esp when sitting at the bulkhead.

When someone behaves like that he or she has abandoned any entitlement of privacy or respect.

When I take photos of people doing things like this, I edit to hide their face.

Im also wondering, what the heck is that blue thing she's wearing. Some sort of bib that ties around the waist? Did she bring her own evac vest.

That's a matter of opinion, and why should you get to be the arbitrator of an individual's right to privacy?

Imagine if a woman was breastfeeding her baby on a plane. Some people may be OK with that. Some people might think it's in poor taste. And other people may be outright offended. That does not give anybody the right to post a photo of it online.

I think that's a sensible approach, so that the individual is not personally identifiable.

Comparing apples with oranges much?

I stand by my comment: put your fetid tootsies on the wall, or operate the screen with your filthy feet, and you give up any right to be treated with respect.

Agreed. It is not inapporpriate to give your child mother's milk. It is not appropriate to wipe your feet on the walls of the plane. It's not the same thing. Just like posting a picture of a woman feeding her child on a travel forum would not be appropriate.

Look, I happen to agree with you, but my point is that what is acceptable or not acceptable is relative.

For example, I think it's OK to put your feet on the bulkhead if you're wearing socks, but I don't think it's polite to do it if your feet are bare. However, some people in this forum think it's never OK to put your feet up under any circumstance.

To take my point one step further, consider the difference across cultures. In some cultures, it's extremely rude to show your bare feet (especially the soles). In other cultures it's commonplace.

I'm merely pointing out that I'm more offended by some people's lack of regard for privacy than I am by someone impolitely putting their bare feet on the bulkhead.

The FT community, while diverse, does set some sort of norms for the frequent flyer culture. We have our own lingo: gate lice, dragons, fcm, FA, WFBF. I would actually say that we are, as a community of flyers, set norms. Things like when you open or close a shade, how to work with the flight attendants, etc...what is acceptable and unacceptable for those of us who spend a percentage of our lives in the sky. At times these norms conflict with the local cultures. I would argue that there is a ff culture that exists. Feeding a baby would not conflict with the ff culture. Why? It does not affect the current or future frequent flyer.

Stinky feet on the bulk head affects current and future ffers.
