It's technically back-to-back - you've broken two MSP-XXX-MSP trips across two itineraries. That said, I doubt there'd be a revenue integrity issue given the facts cited.

I've done this when a work trip has forced me to ticket a booking inconsistent with a previously booked personal trip, then cancel the return segment on the personal trip. So long as you're honest with Delta, they'll deal fairly with you IMO.

Pricing out the tickets as itinerary A round trip, itinerary B round trip, taken consecutively, was actually a few $$ cheaper than how I ended up booking (B nested within A), so technically Delta is getting more $$ from me for the convenience of this trip. I am still a little paranoid about my flights as booked but two platinum agents can't be wrong, right?
