I would say complain and write the pilot up only if the person writing the complaint is perfect, always "professional" and never "inappropriate"; otherwise, it amounts to hypocrisy.
It is impossible to gauge the pilot’s skills and judgment by a comment made over the PA and I am sure none of us would like to be judged by a simple statement rather than the sum of our deeds over a lifetime, so give him the benefit of the doubt, be a good citizen and forgive his trespass. Life is about forgiving, not punishing. Writing to complain about this “much-to-do-about nothing” is an over-raction. |

It was Obama. I got the below email from the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Even so, there are rarely delays for scheduled air carriers due to flight restrictions for the president. They are usually exempt from the TFR (temporary flight restriction). Could be something minor due to increased workload for the controllers or perhaps if you're actually trying to fly in when Air Force 1 is leaving or something.
I'd also note that the TFR was up for only 1:15, which is pretty short in my experience. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/alask...wednesday.html |
I spent 8 years working so close to MSP that I could read the tail numbers off the planes as they landed. In those 8 years the POTUS and VP at the time thought Minnesota was a swing state. If it wasn't a ground stop trying to land or depart I'd try to go home only to find they have large trucks blocking the freeway entrance. (Snow state, so we have plenty of gov't owned dump trucks to salt the roads).
The comment was dumb and inappropriate. Send a note to Delta. Even Delta has the common sense to support both parties. |

I'd write that guy up in an instant.

It appears he does not take his job seriously. |

Sounds like the pilot made a fairly factual assessment of the situation, and did not encourage you to vote one way or another - just asked you to remember the situation. Did you clap? :D

maybe, maybe not. the pilot doesn't understand the distinction between his professional responsibilities and his personal anger. He doesn't understand that when he dons the uniform and gets in that seat, with responsibility to every single passenger and their families, that he needs to set aside personal issues.
It appears he does not take his job seriously. If you have a job dealing with the public, keep your political (and religious, and personal) issues to yourself. You're there to do a job. An airline announcement system is not a soapbox, and only a blinded dope would think that it was. |

Huh? The president does indeed screw up travel more than any other elected official whenever the president travels. What does that have to do with the party?
I find it challenging and inconvenient that the airspace around Air Force 1 is so sacred that it stops commercial aviation for hours and miles around. A 4 hour ground stop in SAN when BO was in NYC and 2 hour delay for BO when TK was being euligized in BOS (and they didn't even use Logan!), and once or twice for BC. What makes it so special or necessary? |

If the pilot were a supporter of ____ [some political group, including terrorist organizations] and were to make a partisan political comment in favor of _____ [same political group, including terrorist organizations, as mentioned previously], would the apologists for this pilot's partisan politics be consistent (and support the pilot), or would they be hypocrites?
