Partisan Pilot
Just reached cruising altitude on a LGA-bound A319.
One of the pilots just announced that dispatch warned him of potential "VIP movement" in the NY area that could be affecting our departure time.
Then he said this:
Not really sure what to say...

“There’s some VIP movement, so being New York, probably a 99 percent it’s some DEMOCRAT (accent his) racking up some votes. So bear that in mind come election day.”

If so he is totally out of line and unprofessional, and should be reprimanded. You don't do partisan snide commentary when on official company duty.

Doesn't sound very professional and/or could have been a really bad attempt at being funny...

I say "move on" and forget about it or man up and wait for them to come out of the cockpit and deliver your complaint directly to the man. That would be more satisfying than writting an email complainig about it.

Isn't it true that the vast majority of elected officials in New York are Democrat?
So why wouldn't he think it is a Democrat? (unless it is Bloomberg)

Doesn't matter who, what, where. It's one thing if you engage in conversation with a uniformed employee one on one and sort of invite them to share their opinions (and can I say, I've regretted chit chatting with more than one FA in the jump seat!) That type of comment over the loudspeaker is inappropriate.

But I agree, a pilot should keep his partisan views to himself.

There is no doubt this pilot ought to be fired on the spot and told to take up his anger issues with his psychiatrist. Delta could then partner with NPR to sponsor their in flight anouncements.
"Thank you for choosing Delta. This announcement is brought to you by NPR on behalf of all of our sponsors including American Express....[finger wag]...and remember, smoking is prohibited on all Delta flights due to the inherent evils of big tobacco. While we are thankful to those wealth Americans among us who have earned Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Medallion Status, we would like to extend a special thank you to the TSA who though mildly intrusive body scans, pat downs, and scanning of all shoes has ensured the safety of this flight."
Hope this little humor doesn't get me suspended....

Now, that is interesting. I would have put money on it being a PMDL crew from somewhere in the South. I didn't even know there was a single Republican in Southeast Michigan! It must not be a Detroit based crew.

Second, I don't know of any other Democrat in office today that can and does routinely screw up air traffic when he travels as much as this one. I have been victim of this on more than one occasion this year.
And, as for being "partisan" he did remind everyone to vote on Tuesday and that hardly is partisan, its good citizenship.
Finally, I thought Delta had a policy that flight crew was supposed to keep customers informed in the event of a delay and be clear as to why the delay is or may occur.
