The usual...My experience on that route, admittedly limited, is that the first class cabin is offered a choice of omelet & breakfast potatoes or muesli. All breakfasts served w/ astonishingly tasteless melon, yogurt, etc.

In the p.m., the only advantage of F is the free drinks. Depending on how the week is going, I may need them.
WOW. Talk about cutting off one's nose to spite their face...turning down a first class upgrade for...what? Maybe a couple more inches of legroom? Whatever. I'll take the FC seat every time.

Actually, you know, if cocktails and airline food hold no appeal for you and you have a narrow enough tuchus, 5C and 5D on the A320/19 are hard to beat in terms of leg comfort. I'd still take FC too, but when I'm flying A320 and my upgrade clears and Ms. DAYflier's didn't (until recently a SE, now GM), I'm quite happy to take 5C off her hands.

I was going to correct you and say HNL-MSP is not 913 but 3,967 miles, when I realized you're talking about HLN (Helena) not HNL (Honolulu). That's a big mix-up! I never realized that was Helena's abbreviation (even though I've flown into GTF multiple times) - neat :-) I'm surprised you got a breakfast on HLN-MSP though!

I was always surprised that the NW Saabs not only had restrooms, but they could fit a bev cart on the plane as well.

I too prefer a hot breakfast but as for small jets, am simply thrilled that they now have a FC cabin - something we seem to be taking for granted already. CRJ can either suck or be comfortable. Getting a meal is nice too.

True, US and CO do not have FC on their regional jets.

No, its does not have one all CRJ/ERJ aircraft. Oh, only Skywest/Comair/ASA/Mesa is mostly have some F class cabin. Only this way where DL has already in the F class cabin some regional fleet is on CRJ-900.

I guess the way Delta wants you to think is, stay at a Hampton Inn, grab points and miles, grab a packet or two of instant oatmeal and ask for a cup (or two) of hot water. Mix your oatmeal and you have a hot breakfast! Voila!!!

SLC-DTW today on 737 with only cold cereal for almost 4 hour flight. I went SEA-SNA on Alaska last week that offered an omelet?!?! Let's get it together DL!!! Also, no snack basket the ENTIRE flight, what is up with that???

This past weekend I flew a NW CRJ-900 from DFW to MSP (852 miles) in the morning, which is less than 900 miles; surprisingly, F cabin got breakfast service with a warm bagel. Is this route an exception in terms of meal service (like ATL-JFK/LGA)? Also the milk was from Texas, which indicated the meal was probably loaded in DFW.

In November when flying ATL-BOS (947 miles)leaving at 9:50AM, a single choice of lunch was served in F, which surprised a lot of people including the FA herself.

In September when flying HLN-MSP (913miles) leaving at 8:30AM, the breakfast served in F included cereal with milk, a banana and a prepacked muffin (the one they serve in coach class during pre-arrival meal service on USA-AMS flights). The milk was from the state of Washington, which indicates it was probably loaded in HLN.

Back in June when flying MSP-ABQ (981 miles) during lunch time, we actually got a choice of salad or hot sandwich, which confused the FA as well as us.

In August 2008 when I flew NW on DEN-MSP (680 miles) in the morning, they actually served an express version of breakfast in F (cereal with milk and a banana). I guess this is due to competition on that route. Do they still do that?

Finally, I am wondering whether NW will make exceptions to MSP-SEA route in terms of full meal service, as this is one of their most important domestic routes. Does anyone have any experience for dinner service?
Yes - there are some exceptions being made out of MSP but I'm not sure who's making the decision and its not consistent. I fly DFW-MSP a lot and the 'new cold' is served on mainline, Compass, and Mesaba but NOT Comair. (I don't think Shuttle A or Skywest fly the route).

Personally I'm Ok with the cold breakfast - cereal is probably better for us being all sedentary for 2+ hours in a tin can anyway. Total meal cut-off and/or the Comair inconsistency is an issue in my book though.
