My AF just hit - is it correct that there is nothing that I can downgrade to? I only use the $5 a month streaming credit, so it's $35 annual fee to hold onto it. Thanks!

Edit: I called in and they said the only other card is the Elite card, which I'm not interested in.
They said they don't do retention offers but they waived the annual fee for a year

When I looked at ways to redeem rewards, I see a thing called "Annual Fee Eraser". It's unclear how many points are required to "erase" it, but apparently it is possible

FYI I called in and requested the AF be waived, they did for the first year, but won't be possible for next year. Welp, I'm gonna keep it until they actually are going to charge me I guess.

Seems the UK is running a BA Avios transfer special

HSBC Premier Rewards Avios Bonus

Not sure if the transfer applies to HSBC US accounts.

My card was stolen and used for online charges. I found this interesting as the only thing I charge on it is Netflix to get the $5 credit

It's possible that the number was intercepted when you typed it into the form of Netflix's website, but these days card numbers are often compromised in bulk, and it has nothing to do with your individual use.

Current transfer rates

Anyone knows if the US version still has a Point Transfers rate of 1 to 1.25?

I'm considering applying for the Elite MC for the 60K sign up bonus.

Six airlines are 1:1, five are 1.25:1. To be clear, 1.25:1 means that you need to redeem 1,250 HSBC points for 1,000 airline miles. See the Wikipost at the top of this thread for the details.

Thanks. Didn't think that the wiki was up to date. At some point, BA was devalued to 1.25 to 1. So it's good to see that it is back to 1 to 1.
