Are y'all considering transferring to Avianca?
I'm almost running into the problem of jumping on every transfer bonus that Bilt has and then having low tens of thousands of points in a bunch of currencies, which is not ideal. |

I cannot wait for Cardless to take this over.
After 15 minutes of various security questions, WF said I was "approved" for a credit limit increase from $5K to the very specific $6,300. My next lowest credit limit, on any card, is $15,000, and the next lowest is double that. After laughing that off, they said they could do a formal review that involves a hard pull, and would let me know of any updates in a week. I thought about just stopping there but figured I'd do it for the data point and the morbid curiousity about what terrible offer they come up with now. |
Yeah there’s a lot of things wrong with this card.
I paid my balance with the Bilt app (not the Wells Fargo app) on 7/28 and 7/29. The funds were never taken out of my account but the payment was marked as successful. I see the payment transactions in the Bilt and WF app as “Online ACH Payment” +$XXXX and then an equal amount as “Adjustment” -$XXXX. As a result my outstanding balance on Bilt never went down and my card limit is exceeded from 2x rent charges. Oops. And I probably can’t use the card for rent day. |
It turns out that the Wells Fargo fraud team just closed my account completely and the phone agent says it can't be reopened but I can reapply for the card. Letter coming in the mail. Goodbye for now, I guess...

I haven't received the letter in the mail yet, but see above post 35.
My payment due date is near the mid/end of this month. The payments from the Bilt app caused my credit limit to reset but the payments never went through so I assume that charging over the limit triggered some fraud alert. I never received any communication email or otherwise from 1) Bilt or WF that the payments never went through or 2) that the card was cancelled other than it showing up in the app. As soon as I noticed that this happened I immediately paid off the balance directly over the phone via ACH but this didn't solve the issue. |
i did read that. but didnt make much sense for it to be considered fraud? i mean if payment didnt go through and you didnt have enough credit left, then they should have rejected your payment? how is that fraud?
i know im asking questions, but not really asking you, sa i think you might as confused as i am |
It feels like it's almost their fault for marking a payment as successful when the funds weren't taken. So the transaction should have been denied rather than accepted... Let's wait and see what the letter says. In any case not much lost as you probably have to reapply for a new Bilt card in Feb 2026 anyway.
I would have assumed the behavior would be similar to this other WF card. No T&C about this for the Bilt card. https://www.wellsfargo.com/credit-ca...ent/#Account05 What happens if you use more than your available Credit Limit? We may either allow the transaction without increasing your Credit Limit or deny the transaction. If we allow the transaction, we may require you to pay the over-limit amount along with your next statement’s Minimum Payment. You will still be liable (responsible) for all credit you receive. "Minimum Payment" means the minimum amount you must pay by the Payment Due Date. You can find this date on each billing statement for your Account. "Payment Due Date" means the date when the Minimum Payment is due. |

Furthermore, we'd have to see what the new T&Cs are and how earning points for rent, HOA fees, and potentially mortgages works with the new program. |

Not sure about other people, my 1st Bilt approval was September 2023, so if re-application in February 2026 is required wouldn’t be 2nd 5/24 slot. Even so, not 100% certain it’s worth it. |
NY Times column explains how Bilt knows which credit cards you hold, and reiterates that a Bilt credit card is only one of their diverse revenue streams:
When you sign up for Bilt, a loyalty and payment platform best known for giving people the ability to earn rewards points while paying rent, it asks you to link your credit cards. Once Bilt has those, it can send you points when you do business with its partners.... ...Bilt can present you with a list of the cards you have, even though you’re a new customer.... ....some landlords and building management companies started teaming up with Bilt and paying the company to handle leasing and billing for residents. Bilt essentially became their digital checkout system in addition to their rewards provider. If renters renew their leases — often with the help of Bilt bonus points — Bilt makes money, too. The company also built a network of merchants (over 40,000 so far), with an emphasis on businesses close to buildings that it has teamed up with. The company makes money from merchants through this effort as well. In essence, the company wants you to think of it as a universal loyalty program built around your neighborhood. And if you link your cards and patronize the network merchants, Bilt can hand over information to, say, a partner coffee shop. And how does Bilt put the information about your cards in front of you? It works with a company called Method Financial, which gets it from various places, including the credit bureaus, the card networks (like Visa and Mastercard) and the card issuers themselves. |
Apologies if this has been reported before, but I hadn't seen it. Got this from Bilt after my 5x for 5 days post CLI ended:
for the next 30 days you’ll earn 5X points at grocery stores, gas stations, and on dining with your Bilt Mastercard, up to 10,000 bonus points |
