CSP/UR vs Amex decision
Hubs and I have used the CSR as our main shared card for about 9 years now (since it came out). With the recent announcement of increased annual fee and more coupon-clipping needed to get the various credits, I'm not going to renew it. I'm debating between closing the CSR and opening a new CSP to get the bonus (I am well under 5/24 and haven't had a CSP since I got the CSR), or closing the CSR and switching to an Amex Gold.
I usually transfer UR points to United or Hyatt, but sometimes I buy travel through Chase's portal too. But I'm not wedded to United/Hyatt. If I went to MR, I'd probably just transfer to whatever airline I could find business class award availability on. I like transferring to Hyatt because it's often the lowest points needed for a room. CSP is I think 3x on dining and 2x on travel, while Amex Gold is 4x on dining and 3x on flights but 2x on prepaid hotels. It seems the Amex is better (since travel and dining is a lot of what we spend on). I am also a little concerned that Amex isn't as widely taken overseas, the couple times a year we go somewhere international.
I guess I'm just curious what people thing/other things I should be considering. Oh, I have a CFU as well, which I can use to store any points that might get left over.
Thanks

Amex has more airline transfer partners than Chase (although they have a few in common), but Chase has Hyatt, which Amex lacks.
I have the CSP, and have been very happy with it because of the free DoorDash DashPass, and the annual $50 hotel credit for hotels booked through the cash travel portal. The CSP also offers primary rental-car LDW (except for residents of New York State), so that's a big advantage over the Amex Gold if you ever rent cars within the U.S. (For overseas rentals, even "secondary" coverage becomes primary if you have no other collectable insurance.) In addition, I've found the periodic retailer offers on my Chase cards to be more useful than what I get on my Amex Hilton HHonors card, but it's possible that the offers on the Amex Gold card could be better than what I see on the Hilton card.
If you decide to go with the CSP, I would think about getting a Chase Freedom Flex (or product-changing your Chase FU to the Chase FF) so that you can take advantage of the FF's quarterly 5X bonus categories (it's currently Amazon and select streaming services, with a June-only bonus category of certain utility payments).

To my knowledge, Chase has not announced anything. There are rumors, and Chase is teasing changes, but the details are not confirmed, and those will matter. For example, Sapphire Reserve's $300 Travel Credit may or may not be eliminated. A higher annual fee may or may not apply on your next renewal date. Chase likely will offer retention bonuses to keep existing Reserve cardholders. It's not too soon to explore alternatives, but I think it is premature to make a decision.

Or the BoA Preferred Rewards scheme with a BoA Premium Rewards Elite card(which is basically the only card with PP Restaurants still)
Also with all the new teasers Chase is posting saying Summer 2025 i would expect it either at the end of the month or over the July 4th holiday.
