Yeah - that Hilton promo is just as useless.

Anyone know if signing up for the Hilton bonus prevents you in participating in future Hilton fast tracks? Usually there's a set limit of how many fast tracks can be completed in a set period, so don't want to get the quick Gold and then prevent myself from doing the corporate Diamond one next year if I need a series of Hilton stays.

I had the same question. I have one Hilton stay in November (for a wedding, am required to stay at this property) and certainly wouldn't mind the status bump for now, but don't want to screw myself out of another opportunity in the future where I can actually use it more.

Checked the terms and couldn't find an answer - sent Bilt a message and will give an update if I hear back tomorrow

I'm curious how this Hilton promo effects current status? I have Diamond (qualified based on nights last year) and its set to expire March 2025. If I do the Bilt promo, does it knock me back to Gold until the end of 2024? Does it reduce the amount of nights needed to re-qualify for Diamond or does already being Diamond disqualify you from the fast track? (IIRC the T+C if the promo say you are fast tracked 14 nights to qualify for diamond before 12/31/24).

I missed out on the Hyatt promo last year so I'm curious how this works for current status holders.

Assuming it works, this is good for me since it's one less charge needed per month.

Update on this, I'm not exactly sure this was supposed to happen. Bilt never reimbursed me so I filed a support ticket and then they manually refunded me. We'll see what happens later today, but I'm going to a different location.

Here's the October T&C https://www.biltrewards.com/terms/rent-day-oct24

If you already have Diamond, this promo wont affect you.

This temp gold doesnt grant any nights (I think?) so it doesnt affect requalification.

That was my initial response too, but if you have Diamond expiring 2025 and no Aspire and don’t want to requalify in 2025, then…
doing this Gold promo and 14 nights (10 if Bilt Platinum) gets you to Diamond until 2026.

Tbh, you probably could open a new HH account if you don’t care about EQN and then transfer the points after the stays… hmm

Richard Kerr was on a podcast recently:

https://milenomics.com/2024/09/trave...-richard-kerr/

I'm pretty sure he said there were three new travel company currencies coming on board before the end of the year . . .

Overall, though, not super interesting and a lot of boasting about ways he's maximized his personal travel.

Right, but the terms of service for the promo say that (in addition to giving a trial period for HH Gold) it reduces the number of nights needed to qualify for diamond to 14 down from 60. So for someone who already has Diamond (or Gold), but has not re-qualified yet for next year it could greatly speed that process.

(Not a paid shill, just a happy Aspire credit card camper .) FWIW, the Hilton Aspire credit card includes Diamond status and although it has a high AF, it basically puts $50 (more than the AF) in your pocket every year by way of low hanging fruit* statement credits. Also has an annual FNA, CLEAR credit and relatively high earnings on Hilton spend. For many of us, even with 5/24 concerns and infrequent Hilton stays, it’s a no brainer.

Hilton Aspire Card, Moneymaker?

Hilton Aspire $200 x 2 RESORT Credit experiences.

Hilton Aspire $50 x 4 Flight Credit experiences

(* “low-hanging fruit (plural low-hanging fruits) (idiomatic) Easily obtained gains.”Where does low-hanging fruit come from? The first records of the literal sense of low-hanging fruit come from 1859 in Adam Bede, a novel by George Eliot. The first records of the figurative sense of low-hanging fruit come from 1909, although it would begin to become especially popular during the 1980s. The figurative usage alludes to the fact that picking fruit from low branches is almost always much easier and faster than picking fruit from branches higher up. The term low-hanging fruit is particularly common in the business world. It is often used to refer to such things as groups of customers that are easy to persuade or investors that are already interested in a business. A person or company that is going after the low-hanging fruit is focusing on easy tasks or goals first before worrying about difficult problems or goals that will take a lot of effort.”)

Ok, I didn't get charged for shoes and water today at Soulcycle so maybe it was just a weird fluke.

The podcast was decently interesting, a couple of notes
  • He doesn't want Bilt to have a SUB because it's a race to the bottom, citing other cards with high SUB like Marriott
  • Airlines/hotels are interested in Bilt because they can target affluent 30 year olds instead of their main (elite) clients who are 50-60
  • He thinks that the reason NYC hotel rates are so high is that they closed off several floors to reduce inventory. He stays consistently at one for many nights and always stays on the same two floors
  • He gives this example: "If you pay your rent with the Alaska co-branded card, you get 3x Alaska miles per dollar of rent. If you're paying $2000-$2500 rent, you now get a free flight every single month for paying your rent. Yeah, you have to pay the 3% fee. But that 3% fee is going to be a lot cheaper than whatever flight you were going to try and book for the most part. Right. You're talking $75-90 every single month for a flight. That's a great message. And that is something the vast majority of our members who are not like the three of us, points and miles experts, that is a message they can understand."

I listened to the podcast as well - it's worth a listen if you have the time - but I still don't think that the program is sustainable. More important than the travel partners, my understanding was that the Wells Fargo backing was more in anticipation of renters eventually getting mortgages. From earlier posts in this thread and articles, that never materialized.

The podcast also hinted that the reason why we're able to have these transfer opportunities is that a lot of Bilt members are using their points to cover a portion of their rent. If the rewards program ends up going more in that direction as a result of that at the expense of transfers to travel partners with a message like, "We're focusing on where our Bilt members are using their points!" it would diminish the value proposition for many of us here. There was no indication of this, but I'm wondering what percentage of heavy hitters on the Rent Day promo are on this thread.

I was surprised that there was no more push back on that. Or even a follow-up question about the pseudo SUB that is (was?) offered to some people.

Without a SUB and without rent, I guess I am just not in their target market. I am also in that age group he talked about that will in a few years “age out” of the loyalty programs. Well, I hope I have another 20 years of travel in me, fueled by Chase, Amex and Citi :)

I don't pay rent either; I do however pay monthly maintenance, and it wasn't until earlier this year that my building's management company began accepting payments over the Bilt portal. With that being said, I don't use the card for anything else other than (a) maintenance, (b) anything on the 1st that will get bonus points and wouldn't get 3% or more on another card. Even if they had a SUB it would have to be pretty good for me to even try for it.
