Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.
Best* redemption found to date is $1,000 prepaid visa for 105K pts. It's now 125K pts for a $1,000 prepaid visa. Link to catalog

what are you guys complaining about?

I've got an incredibly uneven table out on my back porch table, and this helped even it out!

Well that too bad, although as others have said, sorta expected it. Guess they didn't get the change in time before the huge package went to the press and then mailed. We of course received two in the household (both are Primary and AU on the other account) Glad I got them all cleared for 2016.

What sort of net worth are they looking for on signup and is it something I can explain to the credit officer?

My wife and I only have 20K in the bank but we have much more tied in our 401k and some more tied up in some investments, and we will both be earning high incomes once we start working again this summer.

What is "high net worth?"

I believe they are targeting clients in the 100k+ range, but of course this is my impression not an official target from the bank.

In general, I don't think they have hard numbers and bankers do have lee-way in who they can submit the application for. You might be able to talk your way through it.

Do we have any confirmation whether Delta PGGMs are going to be affected by the change in terms?

No data points yet as it takes effect in April but the language explicitly calls out seat fees and upgrades as excluded. Oh well, just means it won't be a keeper card.

Need a $150 AA gift card, can I purchase it at once or should I purchase in $50 chunks for this to be credited

Yeah, just wishful thinking on my part. I was going to keep this card forever with the seat fees being credited back, but I will now be cancelling at the end of the year.

All at once should be fine.

Why? Wouldn't many types of gift cards still qualify?

Good point, though of course still more effort needed. I have enough airline miles accumulated for the next 2 years' worth of what little flying I've been doing. So I'd likely have to resell the GC'c at a loss if they have an expiration date. Still profitable over the $400AF.

I will kick the can down the road and decide at the last minute. Been trying to put less effort into this hobby as I've gotten more accumulated points heh.

It's interesting to watch these guys adjust on the fly. Seems like it's CNB's first rewards cc and they're learning as they go. The website still has the old t&c allowing seat upgrades.

Card Reported as Closed on Credit Report

This is really strange. On my credit report, this card is reported opened 11/3/15 and then closed 11/4/15 "Account closed by consumer"

However, the card is very much alive and well. City National also seems to be updating my report at statement close date.

Anyone else see this? It's on both TransUnion and Equifax.

It looks like that may be limiting the $250 credit to each account too and not including AUs? That would make this card a cancel for most people I think?

it also excludes gift cards too, so it remains to be seen how useful it is next year

The new terms still refer to the maximum credit for each cardholder under the account. I think $250 per card is safe for now, but who knows. I've had the card for three months, and this is the second change they've sent. I keep fantasizing that they're going to add transfer partners, but that's probably pretty farfetched.
