Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.
Best* redemption found to date is $1,000 prepaid visa for 105K pts. It's now 125K pts for a $1,000 prepaid visa. Link to catalog

I used some CNB pts to book an AS airfare through their portal. The X fare cost $25 more via their portal than booking directly with the carrier. There was a small cash copay (I didn't have enough pts) and that coded up as MCC 4722, which is Travel Agent & Tour Operators. I could have saved myself that fare differential by calling into the concierge and booking over the phone, but given all the troubles I've generally had with that (with other firms, not CNB explicitly) I'd rather not take the risk of getting names, KTN, FF, or anything else wrong. Fixing those the next day after ticketing is annoying. (And the fare went up $50 this morning too!) Redemption value was ~1.18 cpp

One other thing, which I've had with other OTAs, even though my AS FF is attached to the ticket, is those bookings never seem to autopopulate on my AS account under MyTrips. And CNB's Connexions website doesn't send email confirms of booking even though they state will. I've had that problem with Connexions at Citi, Chase, and others. It's not a spam folder thing either.

For the $100 Visa Air Discount does the primary card member have to fly ?

Can the AU card book a flight with someone else and get the discount ?

I fed the agent our TTNs and FF#s. The only one she missed was my AA number, but I was able to bring up my PNR on the AA website and add it pretty easily. Everything else was good. I know of someone else who did not get the lowest fare info in the portal (it's a 3rd party operator). I think calling in is the way to go with CNB for booking with points. I do think the Visa Infinite portal has the same fares as the airlines btw.

Signed up online on 7/26, got approved on 8/1. Was told by customer representative on the phone that I'm only eligible for spending $3000/30000 bonus points offer. Anyone has similar experience? I also wrote message on City National Online but haven't heard back from them.

I was just writing about this above. Do you have online access yet? If so what date is the $400 AF charged? I received an e-mail requesting a few pieces of information about my employer on 8/1. I responded and received the cards in the mail on 8/2. After getting online access my AF was charged on 7/31. That to me means the account had to be open on 7/31 for me to be charged on 7/31 and I should be eligible for the $5k/50k bonus.

I do have online access. But I haven't seen the annual fee posted yet.

How did you apply online? Did you have bank accounts with CNB already? Thanks.

There was a brief moment a week and a half ago that they allowed online application. And I took it.

I don't have any other accounts with CNB currently.

Can be either primary or AU. Need to use the card of whoever will be flying though.

Not sure how true that is, or if people ever get a/c closed due to that, but it makes sense to me.
I've had the card for over eight months and my banker hasn't reached out to me once, even during the long periods of no spend. I also haven't received any marketing e-mails or mail from CNB aside from the one Crystal summer travel points-earning promo. A punitive shutdown would be very passive-aggressive when they're not courting me at all.

Exactly, HSBC does this for their premium card.

Was that at the airport, or after you had booked a ticket and upgraded it on the web site before travel?

I was looking to do something similar and I'd seen multiple data points suggesting upgrades weren't working (and they're not in the T&C, not that means all that much) so didn't do the upgrade (yet).

It was on the website for a flight in October. My guess is the threshold is what's important... there's a $120 upgrade I want to push through but I highly suspect that it won't get credited.

Wife and I both recently got the CNB card. Of course getting two sign-up bonuses was an incentive, but we both wanted cards as a way to organize finances. We will each use our cards for different family expense categories: mine for groceries and restaurants, and hers for travel and transportation. Thus we would need to add each other as AU's. Could this look bad to the bank for any reason?
