Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.

This is not completely true. When I applied it, I could control how much CLs I want the AU to have, up to the entire CL. For example, if my CL is $30k, I can let AU to have CL from anything up to $30k. No change to my own CL.

This is the same way how AmEx lets you control AU CL.

The points are not as good as AR, but if you utilize all , the AUs, then this card is $600 cash positive. Categories are good too, but not as good as AR.

The gentleman was quite friendly, it's definitely an old school, traditional bank tailored towards personalized service rather than technology or use of call centers. This has its pros and cons - their website isn't the most up to date, no mobile app, can't apply for just the card without a rep, etc but on the flip side, you have an actual person that you can call when you hit issues... there's no massive call center to deal with.

This would normally not appeal to me, but the benefits of this card outweigh the inconvenience of having to deal with manual processes.

I agree with others that they are looking to build a client base that's high income that values service, and it does look like they are using this as a loss leader, or perhaps they are counting on higher income people to just not use the benefits like a FTer would. I work for a large tech firm and he mentioned that he worked with several people from my employer to set up this card.

One thing worth mentioning - the banker mentioned that AU's have a portion of the credit limit allocated towards them, which is subtracted from the account holder's credit limit. FWIW, I applied with someone in the San Diego branch, perhaps other branches have tighter restrictions on applying in person.
One small example of service difference. I call in to Citi for a something related to a AA Plat card. Takes 3 minutes on the phone tree to eventually get a human.

Call in to CNB, pretty much every time someone picks up right away, no phone tree BS. I realize there's a diff in the annual fees, thus reflected in the service, but the same thing happens on the $495 Prestige too

CNB people are also generally pretty competent.

Cardholders will eventually be expected to grow the relationship in real ways though.

My banker said at some point they had been told that card renewals may not happen for those why they think won't need other services.

Not sure how true that is, or if people ever get a/c closed due to that, but it makes sense to me.

If that's the case, they should just require a banking relationship up front rather than allow you to apply for the card as a standalone product. I don't foresee needing to use any of their other services - aside from credit cards, we do our banking with Alliant Credit Union and our investment account is with Fidelity. Alliant has much better deposit accounts.

That said, I anticipate moving most of our spend over to this card, particularly that which falls under the bonus categories.

They might be doing this in a soft way, or they have concerns around Anti Tying Bank laws.

I don't profess to understand them, but there are some laws which limit how banks can force people to use their products.

If one is operating with a bank charter, that comes with the territory.

Specialty Finance Co's don't have those rules, but normally, retail banks wouldn't interact with them.

Thanks.
called the bank and was told that it will post after 90 days after account open day.
Is that correct? I saw data points in the beginning of this thread that bonus was posted within one week after spending requirement met.

Confused

The bonus posts some time after the end of the billing period that you hit the spend requirement. So no, you almost certainly will not receive the bonus within a week of hitting the spend requirement.

AA GC credit posted. Purchased on 7/5, credit arrived on 7/16

However on the statement, they back date when the credit arrives, so it looks like credit arrived sooner than it truly did.

Any first hand experiences on whether the $50 NEXUS fee will get reimbursed instead of GE? They are both from the same "Trusted Traveler" merchant.

I am interested to know this also. Nexus makes a LOT more sense than GE if you live in a bordering state with Canada.
