Replacement for AAdvantage Executive Card
Hey all,
My 100k AAdvantage card comes up for renewal in about 2 weeks and I need to find a replacement. No way I'm dropping another $450 on this (unless they give me another 100k :-)
I see so many cards on here but does someone have any recs on a card that I could switch to that would maximize my currently relationship and/or points I have with this card (I have about 90k mi). Would prefer no fee unless too good to pass up.
Thanks!
matt

Do you want to stick with AA or go to another airline? Your banked miles remain banked regardless of your credit card status (as long as they don't expire). You will not get a bonus from switching from one Citi AA card to another. You need to do a new application to get the bonus.
Citi has personal Platinum and Gold AA Cards along with a Platinum Business that earn up to 50K per application. You could also go with Amex Membership Rewards or SPG that allow transfers to AA.
If you want to preserve the credit line, go to citicards.com and pick out a no annual fee card, then call to ask if you can downgrade to it - just don't expect any bonuses.

Most of the annual fee for this card is attributable to the Admirals Club membership. If you need that the only alternative is Citi Prestige which also costs $450, but refunds $250, and provides Admirals Club access only when flying on AA, rather than a membership. Prestige provides various other benefits, but does not earn AAdvantage miles.
If you do not need Admirals club access choosing another card depends on the type of benefits and rewards which interest you. You have not provided sufficient details for anyone to recommend a specific card.

Hi, sorry for being late on this. Thought I would be notified on responses to this thread but never received anything via email.
Anyways, would like to maximize my AA points and minimize annual fees. Also, should have no foreign transaction fees.
Thanks!

Cancel the card and sign up for it again next time you need it...

1. Barclays - keep your US Airways credit card which has now been converted to an AA card. Barclays contract with AA does not allow them to accept new applications.
2. American Express - Starwood Preferred Guest credit card earns Starpoints which can be converted 1:1 to many airline programs including AA. If you convert 20,000 Starpoints at one time there is a 25% bonus - 20000:25000. $65 annual fee, 2.7% foreign transaction fee.
3. Citi - Issues co-branded AA cards. Gold, Platinum, Executive and Business. Substantial discussion here:
