I am 100% sure this is the wrong place for this thread, but after searching for some time, I don't know where else to put this. Please feel free to move. Thanks.

I am new to this forum and to the whole concept of accumulating miles for future travel. Would someone please direct me where I can start? Also, very interested in what cards are the most beneficial, what airlines are the easiest to accumulate miles that can be swapped for other/partner airline miles. I have several frequent flier airline cards and some miles on them but have never used them and they eventually expired/are expiring.

I just booked a trip to Dominican Republic, so I will have to look at what airline that is and put the miles on my FF card.

I have heard that Inc. card is good for miles, but I don't have a business, so can't get that.

Would someone kindly point me in the right direction where I can start my reading here?
Thank you for your help

What airport do you most fly out of?

This is where I started: http://thepointsguy.com/beginners-guide/

"What cards are the most beneficial"---> way too vague. Beneficial for what?

I fly from EWR mostly, but can also use PHL and JFK.

the most beneficial cards are the ones that get me the most miles.
thank you both and i will check out the link.

I recently booked my award ticket our of EWR to TPE round trip, first class, for two all paid in URs.

IMHO if you can fly out of EWR or JFK I would accumulate (sign-up bonus + spending) Chase UR points (CSP and Ink) for transfer to your United MP account once you are decided on an award ticket. Also look at the United cards issued by Chase.

ok, let me see if i can understand this (and I did look up things in the glossary, but these are not there):
TPE is Taipei and that is very nice. Hope i can do that some day too.
what are URs?
Chase UR points = must be talking about reward points.
What is CSP?
Isn't Chase Ink for business only? I don't have a business.
thank you. will look at Chase cards.

Vodka judging by the fact that you booked out of EWR, and list your location as PHL you must be in the same general area. I would really appreciate any other pointers you can give me.

thank you for your help.

UR= Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
CSP = Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Ink is a business card. You can be a sole proprietor starting a business and if you have a good to great history with Chase they will approve most times.

Might get you the most miles, but a horrible redemption ratio...
You have to look both at the accumulating AND redeeming portion...

I know it would not break any records around here but is 9 cent a poor redemption rate for URs?

Newby here
Vodka I'm talking in general,
OP said "Whatever best program, the one that accumulates the most miles"
I just wanted to tip her that you can have a ratio of 100 points per dollar spent but a redemption of 0.000000000001, so even though your account is through the roof, your purchasing power is close to nil.
I wasnt talking about any specific program, just in general

9 cents per UR is an excellent redemption rate...
