How to pay down CL quickly?
ACH push from other banks to wells fargo checking and then use that to pay credit card
Likely to get shut down if...?
- Have a negative balance
- Have a really high balance
- Cycling several times through your CL
- Calling in and getting caught by human eyes for suspicious activities.
To check what your 5X/5% window is:
In the rewards account, go to My Rewards -> Account Activity and the days left on the promo will show up at the top....looks like a pie chart.
To check which transactions get 5X/5% before your statement posts
Now, to check if new transactions are eligible for 5X before statement closes, go to "My Rewards" on the top and click "Activity" and set the start/end dates. You should see a "bonus earning" for 4% extra cash back for anything that's eligible.
Caps on 5x / 5%??
There are no more caps.
What to do when transaction not going through due to FA?

Do you actually see that in writing somewhere? Because their online T&C say
"The following purchases/transactions do not earn Cash Rewards: monthly or annual rewards Program fees, ATM transactions, cash advances of any kind, balance transfers, SUPERCHECKSTM, casino gaming chips, wire transfers, off-track wagers, lottery tickets, or bets or wagers transmitted over the Internet."
Nothing about cash equivalents.

Question, are you eligble to apply & recieve a 5x rewards card if you already have a well fargo card? I have a store financing credit card backed by wells fargo. I log onto well fargo to pay the bill, get statement ect.

I would suggest opening a WF checking account and throwing some cash in it to hopefully improve your CL. If nothing else your payments will post faster. Mine took 14 days to post the first two statements and the last statement they didn't release my CL after my second full payment in the same month.

I got the Mattress Firm card last year for 0%x48 months and 3 months later got the WF 5% card. I got all my points.

Very YMMV. I think trick is NEVER going into a negative balance. If you don't do that, I think sky is limit based on experience. Did 3x CL last month but I'm probably done. Would have tried to push through 7-10x $8K limit this last month but appears I won't be getting 5x the full 6 months. On to the old Amex Blue. ^

Has anyone had success with having their spouse apply for the card and receiving the 5% after you have already received it? We have a joint Wells Fargo Checking account and when she called to check if the promotion had been applied to her account, the rewards or customer service dept. did not see it. I guess I will do a small test purchase at a grocery store, but its not looking good.

My wife applied for the card Sept. 1. But I was told by a WF Rewards CSR that our 5X bonus rewards period ran from Aug. 1 through Jan. 28. The error explains why we're being shorted a month (who knows why we're also being shorted several days in January). The WF Rewards CSR offered to transfer me to a CC CSR to fix my bonus rewards period, based on my application date. But unless others are successful at getting WF to fix their rewards period, I'm probably going to eat our lost bonus earnings and the bonus earnings we'd have earned if we'd been given to the end of the February as we should been.

Wells Fargo is notoriously slow for processing payments from non-Wells Fargo sources. My BB payments take at least 10 days to clear the CL. BofA payments take 3 days. Citi take 3 days to 5-days. Payments from within WF chking accnt take less than a day.

I have avoided the negative balance to this point. My BB payments post in about 2 days, but the available credit seems to be taking 5 or 6 days to reset. I'm at my 12k limit in my 2nd month and have stopped getting fraud alerts by only doing very large transactions 4-5K. I guess I'm going to shoot for the sky now. I was approved for the old blue also but only a 2K limit so not much room for MS there.
