Miles earning is crap (1 mile/ $2) but she threw in 5k miles for 1k spend in 90 days.

Seems good that at least they threw in a bonus spend offer for 5k miles for 1k spend in 90 days.

I simply agreed to have my 1st US Airways CC to be converted to the no-annual fee version, since I'm waiting for my 2500 bonus miles from spending $50 each time for 5 times. That hasn't posted yet since it apparently takes another 6 weeks after the 3 month promotion ended. And because the conversion took place within 60 days after the annual fee was posted, the CSR told me I will be getting back the $89 fee refunded.

Might press later once I get my 2500 bonus miles, to see if I can get the 5k miles for 1k spend in 90 days offer. If not, I'll cancel the card then. The converted card has the same CC account number, but lower miles-earning reward structure, and no more "benefits" that I won't need since I have a 2nd US Airways CC with the full "benefits".

Couldn't get the whole fee waived, but got half the fee and 5k miles for $1k spend in 90 days.

Why are people keeping their cards open? Wouldn't it be better to just open a second or third one?

For me I opened the second and got my fee waived after anniversary miles posted. Now I have 2 cards that are eligible for anniversary miles. Don't know what the future holds for Barclays and American but at least I'm set if grandfathered in. I also keep getting quarterly bonus miles offers on my first card. I actually like this card. As I have stated before I have over 110,000 miles without setting foot on a US plane and spend on just the bonus offers I have received.

The only thing I dislike is the inconsistency and conflicting answers you get from them. But they are trying to improve their customer service, they just need more training.

precisely.. you get lots of good offers for ignoring this card. I got 2x 2500 miles bonuses last year.

Also, last year there was a promo where you would get back upto 30k miles if you redeemed your miles. I redeemed 180k for ANA 787 J award and got 30k miles back..

There are other us air card that I'd like to get like lufthansa. I don't know if a 2nd arrival card is now possible without cancelling the first

I thought you can take the 10K miles and still not pay a dime by cancelling. No?

Yes, but you will be getting 10,000 more miles next year on your anniversary for that $44.50.

Just a question, for many days I need to cancel my card after the annual fee hit to get it refunded?

My husband just called to cancel his (first of 2) US air card and reverse the annual fee. They reversed the fee and said OK goodbye.

I then called to cancel my card and the woman insisted that keep the card. She downgraded it to a no annual fee card and offered a 5k bonus if I spend $1000. She could see that I had 2 US air cards on file.

I really wanted to just cancel the card and then order a third card, but then decided to accept the offer. Not sure if I should cancel this card in a couple/few months and then apply for the third card or just go ahead and apply for the third card.

Barclay Arrival Card - Opened May 2013
Spent $20k almost exclusively at drugstores this past card year.
Asked them to waive the fee, they waived it 100% with no hesitation.

Good report! I have a high spend on mine too (MS) and am hoping for a wave next month. If not, I'll just cancel, and go for the churn. Surely it's churnable.
