The UA card Primary rental insurance does interest me though, I wonder if the Amex insurance offers something additional for the $24.95 ?

I beg to differ. Once I received a bill for a replacement windshield in full weeks later because of a chip they found. I had it on my Amex $20 insurance though. Sent the invoice to Amex, problem solved within minutes.

i always have someone at the rental location check the car with me before i drive out and i have them write " everything is OK" when I drop off.

In all fairness, the car I returned was pretty dirty since I'd just driven it through a blizzard. It had to wait until it was washed for inspection.

I meant they never check the car well when you drop it off as they have hundreds of cars coming in during peak hourss and want you billed and gone ASAP

I'm sure it's checked at some point

has anybody recently applied for the 50000 bonus card with a high spending threshold? I found this on romsdeals.com
https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/...&cellNumber=30

I'd prefer this over the 40k offer.

Good link and post. Wish I had seen that before I applied. $20k/year isn't that hard at all.

I am very new to this hobby and very appreciative of all that I have learned from Flyertalk. I also have the Barclay card and find it very useful for my purposes. Question... Does anyone know if you can earn miles/points through RewardsBoost if you use a non-Barclay card for payment?

applied for the 50k offer today. Got instant approval for 12k limit.

I have 3 previous cards with barclays (us air x 2, travelocity). I put decent amount of spend on all 3 cards regularly.

My last CC app was in Aug'13.

0/2/6 inquiries on transunion in 6/12/24 months.

I have really wanted this card for a year now. Patience really paid off.

$20k in spend for an extra $110 equivalent? Doesn't seem worth it.

Unless you plan to spend that much anyway with it.

True. I should have added not worth it if you're MSing.

Not to beat this to death, but if you're MSing, is $20K so large?

It's not free. At least not on that scale.

Edit: I suppose you can Amex GC it.

Definitely. That's the only way. Sucks right now, but hopefully it'll get better.
