Credit Karma's AAoA calc doesn't match to most definitions of the metric.

From my experience credit karma gives you the wrong AAoA, it only counts open accounts (unless they've changed something recently). So it may be higher than 1 yr 8 mo, but whatever the number is, it gets rounded down to the year. In your case the closed 2010 citi card might actually be helping your AAoA, it just isn't helping your utilization.

Okay, so the way I see it, I should:

App for Chase SW 50K, and if I get denied/pended, call and leverage the CO card. If I get approved, close my CO card anyway.
App for the Barclays USAir card
App for the AMEX PRG card, and then (assuming I get instant approved), app for the SPG card.

Last question, I applied for the UA card and was instant approved on 2/08/12. Should I wait at all or does it not really matter? 30/60/90 days?

It matters with Chase. You might get approved, but it will become easer after 30 days b/w apps. You almost certainly won't receive instant approval.

I'm hoping the offers won't change by then--I doubt the SW one will at least. And, is it wise to do them all on the same day, or would it be okay to do the 2 AMEXs and Barlcays and then do the Chase one later?

Thanks for all the help everyone!

In this case I would probably do them all on the same day, given that barclays reports very quickly. You could always do Amex, wait until 30 days from your chase app and do SWA and Barclays. Amex will pull Experian, Chase will pull Experian or Equifax it seems, and Barclays will pull Transunion.

Given that my 30 days is only like 9 days from now, I don't see any harm from waiting. I guess that will be my plan, then! We'll see how it goes.

Do you remember when you got the targeted offer for the PRG? My only worry would be it could change with the beginning of a new month. My "special offers" seemed to always change from one month to the next, sometimes within the same month.

My guess is you're probably going to have to call Chase to get the SWA card approved anyways, you may as well get this show on the road! If you want to wait though, that's fine.

I didn't receive it in the mail, as far as I can recall. I only see it when I check my targeted offers on AMEX. I have "existing mail offers" for the Blue Sky, Blue Cash, and Delta offers, and the PRG offer just says "New Offer!"

....if this goes away 3/1 and I didn't do it, I'll be very sad.

From personal experience I would go ahead and do the Amex at least. I got a few cards in January and wasn't expecting to do another round of applications until late March/early April, but I made an exception for the PRG (I had the 75k offer as well).

I want to close out the continental card anyway, but I just purchased a ticket using it on saturday. I've already paid it off, but if I close it out before the miles post, they disappear, correct?

I don't believe that would be the case, you would get at least one more statement when closing out the account. First try to get the SWA card without closing the CO card obviously, they might give you an additional 5k or more of new credit (can use as more leverage down the road). Then after you get the SWA approved, call and cancel the CO and move the credit line to your different cards.

That would put me up to 10 credit cards though, including the chase CO card I want to close out soon. That is a scary number to me. Can I go that high?

Also, can I go ahead and close out the CO card, or should I wait till I do the SW app?

I got the AMEX PRG 75k (1k/3mo) as well a few days ago when I checked my offer. I called and the rep told me it would be available until dec 2012 for me. I'm surely not going to wait until then but I wanted to see if the cap one offer comes out so I can do all my apps at the same time.

Where did you get the AMEX SPG 30k (1k/3mo). I would love to apply for that. Thanks.

You know what, I can't find it for the life of me. I "found" it last night, but it was pretty late and I was pretty tired. It's quite possible I found a link to the old deal from 2010 and didn't check if it was still active. This changes the game for me then. I might go for a Hilton AMEX card instead then, since I can't realistically do the spending requirement for the SPG with the current offer.
