USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

Hmm...

Maybe just a coincidence, but there seems to be a pattern the last couple days that putting a FF# down is far more likely to lead to approval. And that not being Chairman's Club (or whatever it's called) turns out to not be a factor at all.

I really can't see this coming into play on a credit decision-- however, Barclays seems to really move in mysterious ways.

Data point: I applied for the 40k miles version in late December. Received the 15,000 mile offer for $750 spend in Mar-Apr-May. Made <$50 in charges in the first statement period and that was it.

Got denied for credit for the first time in my life. Will call recon line tomorrow (I think that is 866-408-4064) and let you know. My feeling is they just don't want to give out this card any more, but they're doing it through denied apps rather than just killing the link. Just a theory.
UPDATE: I was right. They're now denying apps from those who are not preferred or higher US Air members.

I Called the above number (credit dept) just now. Rep said denied bec offer only available to preferred members which I am not. He said without my asking no credit report pulled. I told him this was a valid offer not limited to preferred members, but I got no where. I asked to speak with his supervisor and we went around and around but she kept saying it applies only to preferred members and I kept saying it is a valid offer which I accepted pursuant to the terms & conditions that did not require preferred status. I told her I can send the T&C to her and she gave me a fax # and said she would get back to me this afternoon. Let's see what happens.

Ya I tried to use one of the 35k or 40k without AF cards and got first reject in my life lol. I'm not preferred with US Air. They also may have very high standards and that's all, I've gotten greedy with credit card apps recently, though they pulled transunion where I'm around 750.

I've since gotten a bunch of mailings from Barclays telling me I'm pre-approved for other offers...

I just got the same shtick. I just signed up for DM and tried to resubmit the application but got an error saying I can only submit once every 30 days. Do you know if they actually verify your status or if they only seeing if you have a DM number?

Update: Tried calling back, got a different person, had them add my DM number to the app. It still go rejected for not being Silver or greater. No hard pull though. She basically said I could apply for a different offer online and that it should go through (assuming I am eligible). Of course I don't see anything online that has the first-year fee waived so I might pull the plug on this one. She did acknowledge this was a new process they have in place with US.

Barclays is really trying to build up their customer base to get the post-merger credit card market instead of Citi, LOL!

I remember someone mentioned a supposed employee-only no fee card, and found what I think was the link from post 2326, but alas that link is now broken.

So, if this is a new policy sounds like the only option available would be the 30k first use with fee card advertised on the US Air website?

If so, might be time to try the no-fee NFL card and the $400 cash back after $2500 when dealing with Barclays.

Smile weird

Those of you calling after being rejected for not being premier, ask them if this is for preferred only, why do they have this language on the ap that implies it's not necessary-- you can't be preferred without a FF#!:

If you are a current member of the US Airways Dividend Miles Program, please enter your member number below. This number will be printed on your credit card. If you're not a member, leave the field blank and we will assign you a number.

Good point. You can't be preferred if you don't even have a FF #. It almost seems like the offer was intended to be open to everyone, but they they got a flood of apps on which they know they're going to lose money, so they came up with this "you're not preferred" excuse.

Not true... I applied and was instantly accepted yesterday as I reported. I have no US Airways status, in fact, I don't have status with any airline.

I'd love to hear how this works out for you, I was rejected too and was quoted the same Preferred Status line by the rep, so I would need to try the same route.

Agreed... I think not putting a FF# is an automatic denial. Seems that if you put your FF# (even if you don't have status like myself) you stand a much better chance of acceptance.

Also of note, the link on page 1 is for the Premier World Mastercard ($89 fee, waived first year). The $89 fee version is the only one in this app as stated in the T&Cs, where as there have been problems with both the $89 version and $49 version being in T&Cs in other links, therefore they could approve your for the lesser card.

I got my first US personal card last year with then 40K miles offer, paid the annual fee earlier this year and got 10K miles. Then I applied for my second US personal card (35K miles, no fee first year) and a biz card. The personal card was instantly approved. I called recon for the biz one two weeks later (a mistake probably) and was told that my initial application was declined because of too many credit card applications within three months. The agent reopened my application without new hard pull (I asked about it). I explained why I applied each card, but he still had concern and declined. I thanked him and hang up.

You may have slipped through the cracks, so count your blessings. It seems I applied just hours after you. I was told I was denied for not having preferred status and no credit inquiry was even made.

The link on the first page seems to be expired.

I just used this one https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/...&cellNumber=31 and got instantly approved!
Just registered for a Dividend Number an hour ago and put it in the application.

Data Point: Got my first Barclays US Airways 40k no fee card in July 2012. Applied on 3/6/13 in morning utilizing the above link for the 35k bonus miles with first purchase and no annual fee 1st yr. T&C states rest of benefits.

Got this message: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues. Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later."

Went to the https://www.barclaycardus.com/app/ja...lt_partner=003 to check status and was approved. New card already listed with my other account.
