CHECK THIS LINK FOR YOUR LOT NUMBER ON YOUR BinaxNOW Covid Tests for the extended expiration date:
  • Lot 195-200: https://www.emed.com/hubfs/Case%2001269955-COL-03030%20BinaxNOW%E2%84%A2%20COVID-19%20Ag%20Home%20Test%20%20Product%20Expiry%20Upda te%20-%20Customer%20Letter%20EN%20%20-%20%20US.pdf?hsLang=en
  • Lot 195-200 and 195-100: https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/static/binax-now/scrtechs-0381-v8-binaxnow-covid-19-ag-home-test-product.pdf
  • Lot 195-000: https://www.healthvermont.gov/sites/default/files/documents/pdf/COVID-19-BinaxNOW-Expiry-Extension.pdf

Previously, it was on https://ohio.emed.com/ but the link has been removed.

The good news is that as of mid-Dec 2021, Abbott Labs is apparently shipping only kits with printed expiration dates well into 2022.

No addition extensions beyond the 15 months from printed expiry (9+6). I got stuck with quite a few tests with various September 2021 expiration dates and have been using them recently as self-tests without the online monitoring.

I'll hold on to these older ones in the meantime. If I remember correctly, some of my tests expired and then retroactively were valid again with the first 3-month extension.

I also have a box of tests with expiration dates toward the end of the year, but I'm hoping the testing requirement disappears before then. The US is a bit of an outlier at the moment, and one has to question whether the requirement is serving public health interests or the interests of those conducting rapid tests.

Data point:

Kaiser reimbursed my 6 pack of Binaxnow tests: $150 for tests (fully reimbursed) + $18.77 shipping (1/3 reimbursed) + $13.12 tax (fully reimbursed). No clue why they only reimbursed a third of the shipping, lol.

However: "Starting on May 5, reimbursement will be limited to $12 per test, including shipping and sales tax." So I believe if I ordered another 6 pack I would only get $72 back. Just in the nick of time

Avianca and/or Nicaragua

Hello! We plan to travel from the US to Nicaragua & return to the US from Nicaragua using EMed/approved Abbott Binaxnow Navica tests.

Has anyone else happened to have travelled anywhere in the world with Avianca or Taca international airlines using this method (reaching the airline for confirmation seems to be near impossible) and/or to/from Nicaragua/US? I truly appreciate any insight:-)

Midnight/1am Flights

With testing requirements and a departure time of 12:30am from the US, I’m questioning the “1 day prior rule”. If we technically board at what is 12:30am Saturday but entering the airport late Friday night, do we take our tests earlier that Friday or on Thursday? Anyone happen to know? Thank you!

FYI, Caremark only reimbursed $72 for the 6 packs that cost ~$183.

Does anyone have experience with Onpoint Telemed testing? I'm considering this option for our travel to the US in July, but it's not easy to find real experiences (as the majority seems to be using eMed).
worldiswide What are the hours for testing available? We are overseas hence might be limited with the 1-day deadline. Thanks!

Does anyone know if eMed can be used for entry into Grand Cayman? They say Azova is authorized on their website, but they don't say that others are not approved. Also, anyone have a recent experience going into Cayman? Are they routinely pulling people to test upon arrival?

Missing Navica test result

I tested with eMed this morning, and got the email and pdf within a minute. However the results were not added to my Navica account (although the previous 7 test results are there). I sent a message to eMed 8 hrs ago, but they haven't responded.

We used on point last week in the UK.. you have to pay first and then you see appt times. We used the govt issued I health tests. The report will be printed with local time US so factor that in when scheduling.

Also consider Azova

Another option is Azova which is $20 for video observation. You schedule in advance but they have appointments 24 x 7 in 10 min or so increments. Used them before with a Target-purchased Flowflex test ($7.99 and reimbursed via insurance). It appears they now support a wide variety of home test kits but some of them oddly appear to technically require you to take two tests with only the second observed. Use of Flowflex only requires a single test and is similar to Binaxnow/Emed. It looks like for the others you simply tell them the result of the first test (strange - because you could obviously make up).

You can buy extra tests and get them reimbursed via insurance so you have a backup in case of problems. I take along two when travelling on my own.
