Catering Screwups

Had three (3) catering screwups last week:

1. Midcon breakfast -- hot entree served out of tin (pic below -- real classy!), no plates loaded.
2. Short-haul -- drinks served out of plastic, no glassware or pretzels loaded.
3. Midcon dinner -- no hot towels loaded.

Anyone else seen an increase in catering screwups, or was this just a bad run?

well as long as they had something for me to eat, I really couldnt care if it came in the tin. When flying BA in 1st the FAs always went Nuts when I said just bring it as is when its ready and I ate out of the tin rather then use the plate (I order special meals so I have to do the transferring to make sure the plate was the 1 that came with my tray)

I usaully ask for plastic cups and if need be I walk to the back for my supply, especially for my coffee I prefer the hot cup over the china cup

Hot towels not a big thing with me either. instead of doing the towel service Id rather have them serve me my meal so I can eat.

guess it goes along with Turn Down service in a Hotel, I have more fingers on my hand then times it was done, as I usually just throw the DnD sign on my door when I 1st get to my room

1. Odd since a mid-con breakfast is supposed to be pre-plated, so that would explain not having plates on board. The FA may have noticed before departure but didn't want to take a delay for plates since they (not catering) would be the one to answer for the delay.
2. No comment other than to say there were probably glasses and pretzels boarded.
3. That happens from time to time. I doubt it was a willful omission by the FA.

How come the catering mistake is never "They accidentally catered BF meals and beverages for my short haul yesterday"?

Cause you still won't see it. The FAs will have it for themselves .

Unless you pre-heat the mugs, the coffee gets cold pretty quickly. I guess the ceramic absorbs heat easily.

The galley FA on my flight last week filled all of the mugs with hot water to warm them before pouring in the coffee. Nice touch...I guess it helped.

Huh. Never noticed, but I guess it makes sense. I hate the waste of the disposable stuff and would never, ever ask for it.
