Nice Touch with Delayed Bag
I experienced irregular ops in my commute back from BUD today that, all things considered, were seamless in how NW/KL handled the situation. It seems a 744 has MX issues somewhere, and my flight is still showing a departure tomorrow morning. The KL staff rerouted me through EWR though my bag did not have the same luck. The CO staff in CLE seemed aware of the situation before I stopped at the Baggage Office and quickly filed a claim (there was a note in the system that NW already had the bag on its way tonight). A couple hours later, I got a call on my cell phone and it was an agent from the Elite Desk calling to give me an update. Proactively. Wow. Granted, I am zonked from a LONG day but this impressed me.

Too bad HB-IWC has stopped posting on this thread, or we'll know more about the reason for the cancellation.

The bag tracking portion is pretty standard. When you checked in with a bag supposed to be routed on CO, all CO had to do was look up your bag tag number on arrival, and it would have scans from wherever it went (with its updated routing). That's fairly straightforward across airlines.
The nice touch, IMO was the baggage resolution desk calling you with an update. ^

I agree CHANNA. And interestingly, she did say she was from the Elite Desk and that they got tickets in their system when Plats have baggage issues. The bag was received over night and left where I asked, with an email apology in my inbox this morning.

CO has continued to be the best major carrier for bagging handling. Forbes has listed in order (just saw on the TV in San Diego):
1. Southwest
2. Continental
3. Jet Blue
4. Air Tran
CO is the only major carrier with international flights in the top group.
Nice touch here in SAN on Wed. All the priority bags came out first and very quick - out by the time you arrived at claim area. Other bags were later, but I was in a cab and well on my way by that time. Good job CO in SAN.

That's loads better than United (in part why I just status matched to CO). Try talking to people in India (even as a GOLD) and explain that West Palm Beach is not Palm Springs and that Boston is not Burbank (true, that start with B). 48 hours I receive my luggage. Thanks.

Elite Bag Agent
I mentioned this sometime earlier this year but I had a bag delaying in Houston and it got out the next day. The agent on the elite line even took the time to call the agency in OKC and have them re-direct the bag to deliver it to work vs. my house. Was really helpful.

I took a VDB DEN-SFO and went DEN-OAK instead, filled out a claim in OAK, they called the next morning with an ETA, delivered the bag, then 1K called back to make sure everything was in order.
Very comparable to the OP's experience as CO Plat.
